When you’re towing long distances in heat or rough conditions, this combo is made to stay stable and cool. The Westlake ST235/80R16 radial tire offers a 10-ply rating and 3,520-lb max load at 80 psi, with a speed rating of 75 mph (L). It’s built with double steel belts, double polyester plies, and nylon overlays to resist tread separation and heat buildup. Both the tire and wheel meet DOT, FMVSS, and SAE J1204 specs for confidence on the highway.

Saltwater, humidity, or long-term storage—this wheel is ready for it. The 16" x 6" aluminum construction keeps weight down while staying rustproof, and the glossy black Margay Series finish has an automotive-grade clear coat to resist scuffs and scratches. Steel inserts in the lug nut wells keep the wheel tight on the hub to prevent hole wear over time, cutting down on retorquing.

No extra steps or shop time needed. This unit comes mounted and meets all major standards right out of the box. The combined tire and wheel capacity is 3,520 lbs, so it’s built to handle heavy hauls without flinching. The radial construction and balanced design deliver a smooth ride that stays steady mile after mile.
This setup includes complimentary roadside assistance for two years—24/7 service anywhere in the United States, Canada, or Puerto Rico if you get a flat. On top of that, Westlake covers the tire with a 1-year No Excuses Guarantee that replaces a damaged tire at no charge and even covers a flat labor rate for mounting the replacement. It’s backed further by a 5-year tire warranty and a 1-year wheel warranty for solid protection down the road.
1. Count the lug holes
Look at the wheel hub or the back of the wheel and count how many lug holes there are(also called bolt holes).
Common configurations include: 4-lug, 5-lug, 6-lug and 8 lug
2a. For even lug counts (4-lug, 6-lug, 8-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole directly across to the center of the hole opposite it.
Common configurations: 4 on 4", 6 on 5.5", 8 on 6.5"
2b. For odd lug counts (5-lug)
Measure from the center of one lug hole to the outer edge of the hole directly across (not center-to-center since there's no directly opposite hole).
Common configurations: 5 on 4.5" (most popular), 5 on 5", 5 on 4.75", 5 on 5.5"

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Westlake ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in a load range E and it's mounted on this 16 inch glossy black Margay aluminum wheel with the eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. Now this tire wheel assembly's ideal for RVs, campers, and trailers. The wheel itself is an aluminum wheel. It's very durable, lightweight, and rust proof. And we mentioned the design of it.
It's the Margay series, which is an eight spoke design. And you can see it's a glossy black finish, but if you look, they do a machine face on the edge of the spokes and all the way around on the lip, gives a nice shine to the wheel. They do use an automotive grade clear coat finish on the front, help protect the wheel from scuffs and scratches. Now one of the nice features I like on this wheel is they use the steel inserts in the lug nut wells here, and they do that to help keep the wheel securely in place on your trailer hub. Basically when you install this on the hub, put this over the wheel studs, put your lug nut in or on there and when you torque it down, these inserts will prevent those holes from elongating or wearing down.
So eliminates the need for constant retightening of your lug nuts. Few dimensions on the wheel, the diameter 16 inches, width on just the wheel six inches wide. Now the bolt pattern on this wheel is an eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. And if you wanna measure that on a wheel that's an even number of lugs, it's pretty simple because the lug holes you can see are directly across from each other. So all you have to do is pick one of the holes.
Let's say this one here. Measure from the center of this hole directly across to the center of the hole right across from it. So it'll measure 6 1/2 inches. So that means this has an eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern. It will use a wheel lug size of either a half inch by 20 or 9/16 by 18.
The weight capacity on just the wheel is 4,080 pounds. Now if you notice, this wheel does not come with a center cap. If you do want a center cap, we do sell those separately. So you do want to get a center cap that has the same diameter as this pilot hole here. 'Cause when you install that center cap, it'll go through this hole. The diameter of the pilot hole is 4.9 inches. Now the tire that's mounted on this, it's a Westlake radial tire, so it is constructed with double steel belts, double nylon ply, and then they use a nylon tread firming belt overlay to help prevent tread separation. And it is a radial ply tire, so it is great for highway use. Also, this tire is an ST tire, which stands for special trailer tire, has a sturdy sidewall so it can handle heavy loads and it is created specifically for trailers. It's not intended for use on other vehicles. Now the tire size, which will be stamped on the sidewall, right here, you'll see ST for special trailer 235/80R16. The R means it's a radial. Section width 9.3 inches. Overall diameter from the bottom to the top when it's inflated, it's 30.8 inches. And we mentioned this tire is a load range E, which means it's a 10 ply rated tire. So it has a maximum load capacity of 3,520 pounds at 80 PSI. And this assembly will meet the DOT, Department of Transportation specifications. Also wanted to mention this tire does come with a speed rating on it and it is labeled on the sidewall, but it is a letter designation. And where you'll find that is right after the tire size, you'll see two numbers for the load index and then the letter L. Speed rating L will mean 75 mile per hour speed rating. And they do offer complimentary roadside assistance for two years and flat tire services available 24/7 anywhere in the US, Canada, or Puerto Rico. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Westlake ST235/80R16 radial trailer tire in the load range E mounted on this 16 inch glossy black Margay aluminum wheel with the eight on 6 1/2 inch bolt pattern.

Glad you like them, Peter! And I agree, they definitely look good on there! ^___^ Sorry we didn't have a better option for the lug nuts, but I'm glad you found some good ones. What are you typically hauling?

After one year, these wheels and tires still look great! They support the trailer well and keep their pressure. I chose to keep them covered with RV wheel covers when parked. Still very pleased with my purchase.
