Today we're going to be taking a look at a spring seat for typical 8,000 pound round trailer axles. The spring seat is a necessary component of your trailer's suspension system. When mounted with a 1 3/4" or 2" wide leaf spring, it adds extra support and provides proper positioning for the trailer axle. One spring seat is included with this part number. Please note that two spring seats are required for each axle. This would weld onto a 3 1/2" diameter axle which is a typical 8,000 pound trailer axle. It sits on top of a 1 3/4" or 2" wide spring.
It's got the cutout here on the flat side of the seat that surrounds the raised knob on the leaf spring, and that prevents turning or shifting. It simply provides extra support and secure positioning for the trailer axle. A few measurements to go over with you real quick starting with the overall length. Measuring edge to edge, that's going to give us a measurement of around 4". Overall width edge to edge measures 1 7/8.
Overall height, you can see that that's going to measure about 1 1/4 tall. Then the cutout opening here, that curved area. That's going to give us a measurement of about 2 11/16" to 2 3/4", and that's at the widest point. That's going to do it for today's look at the spring seat for typical 8,000 pound round trailer axles.
