I am very impressed with this product. The construction on the class 5 hitch is something to brag about! Very well constructed and made. The welds and craftsmanship looks great. The only mods I had to do, the center holes on the frame were off about a 1/4 inch, it’s was no problem to drill out with the right tools. It is well worth the time to install, took me about and hour. This is why I’m always proud to buy products made in the USA [Thumbs up] The quality of the B&W hitch is unmatched. The process and shipment was fast as well. 1983 GMC K2500

Awesome, delivered on scheduled and installed the same day with ease! High quality materials and easy to follow instructions. The license plate cut out was from the old hitch. The B&W trailer hitch was perfect fit no cutting necessary.

Have had B&W receiver (BWHDRH25122) with Weigh-Safe 180 hitch on my 69 Ford F-100 for about a year. Used numerous times. No trouble at all. I did use grade 8 nuts and bolts with hardened washers. Also beefed up the frame where the receiver bolts on. I drilled new holes in frame to allow the end of the receiver to be just covered a bit under the step bumper. With a little more work was able to replace full-size spare tire in nearly original position. All said everything worked out great. Other than upgrading to better nuts, bolts and washers (may have been unnecessary, just me) the purchased parts needed no work to fit. Made no changes to them. The extra work I did was on the truck frame. Again perhaps not necessary, just the way I do things. The fact I was able to buy aftermarket parts for my 50+ year old Ford pickup and have them fit perfectly was a real plus.

1984 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

I ordered this hitch for my 84 Chevy D30 military truck. After a few modifications to the existing mounting brackets for the tow hooks and the rear bumper I installed the new hitch assembley. Make sure you loose install all bolts first before tightening. Tighten new hitch assembly last. One of the most difficult parts is getting the Pindel hitch bolts lined up. I would suggest a good tapered line up bar.

It took a little grinding on the rear spring brackets but overall pretty nice unit and worth making it fit nicely.

Great hitch, I didn’t even have to drill one hole in the frame on my 1988 GMC v3500, it bolted right in. The receiver tucked under the bumper very good The only thing I didn’t like was the trailer wiring plug bracket because it didn’t accommodate the new style 7-way and 4-way plug that come on the new Chevy trucks

- BWHDRH25122
by:

Far heavier duty than I expected (see hernia in dictionary) It only lined up with two of the holes in the frame so I had to drill 4. I used a clamp to hold it in place and set the first two bolts in the frame once snug I finished assembly and then drilled the other holes. Not a big deal. Very happy with the construction and the thick powder cote. Next the bumper!!

I have been using this hitch for a year now and it is still the best hitch l have ever owned. I recently pulled a 6000 pound trailer from Oklahoma City to Houston with no problem. I am currently building a 1987 R10 and when l am done a B&W hitch is going on it.

Very good quality American made item. It fit my 1968 Ford F-100 perfect. It sits right below my new Fey step bumper and I can't even see it except for the square receiver hole.

I purchased the tow hitch to replace a home-made hitch on a 1996 3/4 ton dodge truck. The installation when well with only minor modifications to the existing holes in the frame. The wedges and washers were use to insure a tight fit. The only concern I had was the mounting location of the bracket for the trailer plug. It hangs down too low and is subject to bending when traveling on rough ground. After bending the bracket several times, I have now relocated it into the body of the truck. Thanks for the great product.

I just got this hitch today in the mail, it's awesome! Extremely well built and sturdy and the etrailer box kept it safe no dings or dents even. On a regular Chevy truck it will fit perfectly and installation is very straightforward but I would recommend having a friend help hold it while you get two bolts started. I installed it on a 85 Chevy k30 m1008 military truck. On these trucks people have problems with the shackle mounts fitting with a hitch and this one is no different. Some modifications will be needed to the shackle mounts, or the shackle mounts can be removed.

1988 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This is a really nice, really heavy duty hitch. It also works with other brands of vehicles so if one wanted to could take it off before selling and reuse. (My truck is a 1988 F250) Installation was very straight forward, basically get a helper, hold hitch up to frame, mark bolt holes with pen or starter punch, and then drill consecutively larger holes till you get to 1/2 inch. Bolt up, torque, and you are off to the races. I did not remove the spare tire but wish I had. It made holding the top of the bolts very difficult. Save time and remove the spare tire as your first step.!

This hitch part # BWHDRH25122 is a custom fit for the 1988 F250. It it still a good idea to use the fit guide and make sure it will fit the next truck. It is not a custom fit for every vehicle.

I ordered this for my sons 1986 Chevy K20 pickup. My son got home early one day and couldn't wait till I got home to get started. By the time I arrived home he had the entire hitch installed. He read the instructions, pulled out all the tools, used my motorcycle lift to help hoist the hitch in place while he attached all the bolts and boom, it was done. I read over all the instructions, checked his work and it was perfect. The fit is perfect and is flawless, the finish of the product is great and looks durable too.

1982 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

I received the hitch receiver without any shipping damage and all of the hardware was included for the installation. The information etrailer has about the part on their website was very useful in making a decision as to which hitch was best for me. I was able to install the hitch on my 1982 Chevrolet longbed pickup by myself, laying on the ground under the truck without raising the truck off the ground. It was a little challenging for me but I only had to drill one hole for the spare tire carrier bracket for the rear hanger that had to be relocated as stated in the installation instructions. I also had to remove the left and right side bumper support brackets as also mentioned was required in the installation instructions. Didn’t want to do that but the step bumper is still bolted to the frame by other brackets that support it fine. I am very pleased overall with this class V receiver hitch and would recommend it. It is just what I needed and wanted.

After having a previous popular name brand (Chinese made) hitch literally fail, I decided to buy the strongest hitch I could find. B&W is an American company and their products are made in the USA with exceptional materials. My B&W hitch is on my 1 ton dually that regularly tows 10,000 lbs and I have seen zero issues such as cracked welds or bending that my previous hitch experienced. B&W has this hitch rated at 16,000lbs so I am extremely comfortable with the loads I pull. I have full confidence in B&W whether I'm towing a couple pallets of concrete to a jobsite or my classic cars to a show. I expect this to be the last hitch I buy for my truck. Also, etrailer has the best pricing I found along with tech support that cannot be matched.

1989 Chevrolet C/K Series Pickup

I found the product to be solid and well thought out. It came with all the hardware and the instructions were complete and easy to follow. I have an 89 Chevy crew cab & chassis with duel tanks and this product is not a direct fit for this frame as it is 2 inches shorter than a standard crew cab. So I welded in a 4 inch section from another frame to extend mine then added stiffening plates to the bottom and outside and then bolted on the hitch as you would a standard frame. I went beyond the norm but if you have a standard frame this is a very easy and simple product to install.

  • Which B and W Trailer Hitch for 1984 Dodge Ram 250 Custom
For your 1984 Dodge Ram 250 custom the correct B and W trailer hitch comes down to the style of bumper you have. The part # BWHDRH25122 fits a standard size bumper which looks like an average truck bumper and drops down 2-3/4 inches from truck frame to hitch crosstube. The # BWHDRH25198 instead fits if you have a deep drop bumper which looks taller than a normal one. It drops down 5-1/8 inches from where it attaches to the truck frame to the hitch crosstube. For your 2001 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis we have the B&W Trailer Hitch # BWHDRH25122 which is rated for 16,000 lbs Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) and 1,600 lbs Tongue Weight (TW). It fits cab and chassis models with a frame that is 34" wide outside to outside with a 5-1/2" drop. • Would the B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25122 Fit Truck with 34 inch Wide Trailer Frame
34 inch frame widths are pretty common cab and chassis trucks. The B and W Hitch part # BWHDRH25122 that you referenced is designed to fit cab and chassis trucks with a 34 inch width measured from outside to outside on trailer frames. If you measured your truck frame and it measures 34 inches from outside to outside the mounting brackets of the part # BWHDRH25122 would be positioned correctly. You most likely would need to drill holes in the frame to get the hitch to bolt up.

The B&W Class V trailer hitch receiver you referenced, their part # BWHDRH25122, is not a correct fit for your 1997 Chevy K1500 step-side pickup with factory step bumper. This hitch is intended for the cab-and-chassis version of your truck. But we do have a B&W fit for you. Hitch # BWHDRH25124 will fit your truck and the hitch cross tube will be largely hidden by the step bumper itself. This hitch offers bolt-on installation - no welding - and includes all required grade 8 hardware.

  • Are Trailer Hitches Certified and Documented for Weight Capacity
Trailer hitches and vehicles often have different ratings. The trailer hitch, # BWHDRH25122, itself is rated for 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 1,600 pounds tongue weight. But if the truck is rated lower, which it likely is, then you have to go by the lower rating. The truck owners manual should state what its towing capacity is. The trailer hitch meets the specifications for trailer hitches required by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the US department of transportation....
