A loose axle can throw your whole setup off. This formed U-bolt plate gives it a firm hold, securing a 3" diameter axle to a 1-3/4" wide leaf spring. It works as a key part of the suspension system, using (2) 1/2" diameter U-bolts (sold separately) to clamp everything tight so the connection stays solid mile after mile.
Road spray and salt are hard on metal, but this plate is built for it. The galvanized steel is hot-dipped in zinc after forming, creating a coating that’s about 3 to 5 mil thick. That full-coverage layer resists rust and corrosion so the plate holds strong and keeps looking good even after years around water and rough weather.
No guesswork needed when lining it up. The plate measures 5-3/8" long overall with 3-5/8" between hole centers, and 3-3/4" wide with 2-3/8" between hole centers. Today we're going to be taking a look at the CE Smith U-Bolt Plate for Trailer Suspension Systems. The U-Bolt plate is going to help secure a three inch diameter axle to a one and three quarter inch wide leash frame. We can tell that it's designed for a one and three quarter inch wide leash spring by taking a measurement.
