Wiring doesn’t get much easier than this. This light uses a single wire for power and grounds through its mounting hardware, so there’s no extra ground wire to run. Just make sure the mounting surface is clean bare metal for a solid connection, and it’s ready to go. It’s the same straightforward setup found on many factory-style trailer lights, making installation quick and frustration-free.
Visibility matters when you’re out on the road. This amber rectangular light is PC rated, which means it shines in a full 180-degree arc—90 degrees to each side of center. That wide beam lets it function as both a clearance light and a side marker light when it’s mounted properly. You’ll get clear illumination from the front and sides, helping other drivers see your trailer in low light or at night.
Built with a steel base and snap-lock lens, this light is made to handle the bumps and vibration of regular trailer use. The lens snaps securely into place, protecting the 194 bulb inside from road grime and moisture. Even though it’s not submersible, its sturdy build keeps out dust and rain from regular driving conditions.
Tight spots are no problem. At just 3-5/16" long and 1" tall, this rectangular light tucks neatly against flat surfaces. It’s designed for surface mounting and only needs two small holes spaced 2-3/4" apart for hardware. That makes it a simple swap for worn-out marker lights or an easy add-on wherever you need extra visibility.
Running on a 12-volt DC system, this light uses a 194/193 bulb that draws only 0.25 amps. That’s plenty bright for a clearance or side marker light while keeping power use low. The premium incandescent bulb provides up to 15,000 hours of light, so you can count on long-lasting performance without frequent replacements.

Today we'll be taking a look at the Peterson Mini Light side marker and trailer light. This is an incandescent light that serves both as a clearance and side marker light. It's a surface mount light. Comes with a little bracket attached, and has this snap-in base.If you ever need to change that bulb, you can just come to this little tab on the side, get your fingers in there, and kind of pry it out. Then do the same on the other side. And then you can remove that lens cover of that lens and get access to the bulb. This bulb type is a 194193, and you'll just wiggle that to get it out.
You can see our ground connection comes out to this mounting hole here, so whenever we put in our mounting hardware that's going to make the ground for us.It doesn't come with any mounting hardware, so you will have to pick that up on your own.To get that lens back into place, just line it up and then snap it back down. Except, I didn't get it lined up great. There we go. So you just snap it back in place. It'll have our single wire to connect to power. So I'm going to connect mine up to a power source.
We can see how bright this light will be. I'll put my ground right on that little tab. Turn on the power. And you can see our bulb come on there.Turn out the light in the studio. You get a better idea of what it looks like in a low-light situation, so even when it's turned to the side we can still see that light clearly. So that's how we get our PC rating to use it as a clearance and side marker light at the same time.
When it's properly mounted, it'll both jobs.Disconnect our light. And then let's go over some measurements. So our light, the very widest point is about 3 1/8 inches long. Then about an inch wide. And about an inch and a 16th thick. The distance between the mounting holes center to center is about 2 3/4 inches. The power draw at 12 volts for this light is 0.25 amps.
This comes with a one-year limited warranty from Peterson. It is DOT-compliant, and again PC rated. That's going to do it for our look at the Peterson Mini Light clearance and side marker trailer light.

One year later, the tabs holding the amber cover have broken off. Normally, I wouldnt hesitate to purchase again at this price point, since installation is so easy just 2 screws and 1 wire. However, for a few bucks more I found a slim profile LED version, which I will be trying this time around.
