  Unfortunately, Fulton doesn't offer a a folding coupler hinge kit for a 2 x 2 inch trailer tongue. I have heard from some of our customers that they've used a couple of pieces of 1/2 inch steel plate plate cut to the appropriate size to shim out one side of the 2 x 2 trailer tongue so a hinge for a 2 x 3 hinge kit like the # FHDPW230300 weld-on or # FHDPB230101 bolt-on hinge can be used.

  I cannot speak for all fold-away coupler hinge kits but the ones we offer, the Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit part # FHDPB230101, part # FHDPB330301, and part # FHDPB350101 do not contain any bushings. It can be rather difficult to just look at a bolt or hinge pin and determine whether or not it has stretched or deformed but I would be willing to bet that is the issue you are having.   The only way I can recommend a tongue extender for your trailer that has a 3 inch by 3 inch channel is to remove your current coupler, install the hinge kit part # FHDPW330300 in place of it and then install your coupler onto a length of 3 by 3 channel, and then install this into the other end of the hinge kit.
