Question:
what are the inside measurements of the 3 in by 3 in rops hinge? Do you slide the hinge over the existing tube and then weld it, or do you butt it up against the tube?

The Fulton # FHDPW330300 fold away coupler hinge is designed to slide over a 3 x 3 inch trailer tongue, so the inside dimension is just slightly larger than 3 x 3. To install, you'd cut the trailer tongue at the point where you'd like it to fold, slide the hinge over the tube and weld it into place. The hinges aren't intended for use on aluminum trailer frames.
Fulton also makes bolt on hinges for a 3 x 4 tube, part # FHDPB340301 or 3 x 5 tubes, part # FHDPB350101.
