Folding Hinge for 2 x 2 Inch Trailer Tongue

do you have a 2 inch by 2 inch fold a way trailer tongue hinge?

Unfortunately, Fulton doesn't offer a a folding coupler hinge kit for a 2 x 2 inch trailer tongue. I have heard from some of our customers that they've used a couple of pieces of 1/2 inch steel plate plate cut to the appropriate size to shim out one side of the 2 x 2 trailer tongue so a hinge for a 2 x 3 hinge kit like the # FHDPW230300 weld-on or # FHDPB230101 bolt-on hinge can be used.

Hi, I am really confused by spec that says material thickness cannot exceed .120 thickness. Why can’t it be welded to 1/4” steel? Also, if people are adding shims are they not exceeding the material thickness of .120? I must be misreading something. Please help me out. Thanks! Mike

@Mike The material thickness limitation doesn't apply to the weld-on folding coupler, only the bolt on model. The limitation shouldn't have been listed on that page, and we'll fix that. Sorry for the confusion. Also, a quick comment on the shims. Using shims isn't something we or Fulton endorse, but it is a possible solution that some folks have used at their own risk.
