Use this corrosion-resistant actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Drop-N-Go auto-latch coupler automatically locks your coupler in place on 2" hitch balls. Designed for hydraulic drum brake applications.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

Hi everyone. Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at our Dexter DX 6.6 drop and go brake actuator. Folks, this is for drum brakes. It has a two inch ball coupler on it and the whole thing has been zinc plated and it's rated at 6,600 pounds capacity. So folks, why a hydraulic actuator Well, very simple.
This will activate your brakes on your trailer when the inertia from you stopping in the towed vehicle and this come together, pushing the brake fluid back to the brakes on the trailer, and it uses their nice drop and go coupler. So I do have a two inch ball that I'm gonna just use for demonstration purposes only. So basically, you don't have to raise this or do anything, you just simply drop it on the ball. And as you can see, it automatically latches. When it's time to uncouple, you simply pop it out.
So it doesn't get any easier than that, right So very nice. Love that design, love that feature. And then of course, whenever everything's in, you want to go ahead and put the included pin back in there for safety to hold it in place. Now on this side, you can see the breakaway cable here, nice S hook with the spring loaded keeper and the vinyl over that cable, very nice. And of course your cap here.
Nice, oversized, easy access. It has the included seal and everything to keep the brake fluid and everything in there. Max tongue weight, 660 pounds. This particular unit does not come equipped with a reverse lockout, so I highly recommend you purchase one separately unless you have free backing brakes on your trailer. And if not, you could purchase free backing brakes for your trailer.
That way you can drive in reverse without triggering the brakes. Now inside here, you have rollers that have grease fittings. They're super long lasting. They're gonna provide a smooth operation. And again, that breakaway cable is included as well. As far as mounting it, these are three inches apart on center, as far as the bolt holes, to mount it to the tongue of the trailer. It's a low profile design, as far as the head and everything up here as well. So if you're checking out all that, this is gonna give you a little bit more space and just a better look in my opinion. And inside of here, the master cylinder is aluminum, so it's better reducing corrosion than the cast steel master cylinders that are out there as well. Well, folks, that's gonna wrap it up for our look together. I'm Steven. If you have any questions about this or any other products, please feel free to reach out to us. We'd more than happy to assist you, have a good one.
Easy installation and brake bleeding instructions were helpful.
