This actuator takes care of braking automatically. When your tow vehicle slows down, the surge mechanism on the actuator compresses and applies pressure through the hydraulic system to your trailer’s drum brakes. The composite master cylinder has a large fluid reservoir, so it keeps the system consistent and helps prevent it from running dry. The glass-reinforced nylon build stands up to rust and pitting, which keeps your brake response smooth trip after trip.
The steel body is protected with a heavy-duty zinc coating that’s tested for 200 hours of salt spray resistance. That extra protection makes a big difference if you use your trailer around water or in harsh weather. Inside, an acetal copolymer liner keeps the moving parts telescoping smoothly, so the actuator keeps working even after years of use.
The 8" channel-up design gives you flexibility for different towing setups. You can mount a coupler (sold separately) in one of three positions to match your trailer height and keep everything level. The channel-up layout adds more rise than a standard center-mount, which helps if your trailer rides low or your tow setup is higher than usual. It’s a simple way to get the right fit without needing to modify the tongue.
The 2-hole bolt-on case makes installation quick and solid on a standard 3" wide trailer tongue. It mounts straight onto the tongue using 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade 5 bolts (not included), giving you a secure connection without custom fabrication. Once it’s in place, the built-in breakaway system provides a safety backup that automatically engages the brakes if the trailer ever comes loose.
With a gross towing weight rating of 8,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 800 lbs, this actuator handles serious work. The sturdy steel frame and composite master cylinder combination give it the muscle for multi-axle or equipment trailers while staying smooth and predictable under load.

This is the adjustable channel-up design, and has an 8,000 pound weight capacity.Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. It does use the adjustable channel here, which has three different mounting positions for your coupler. Now the coupler that goes in here is sold separately, and this is a channel-up design, so it does allow for a greater drop.This all has a nice zinc plating on it to offer excellent corrosion resistance. It does meet a 200 hour salt spray rating. On the very back here, it uses the composite master cylinder, which is very durable and efficient.
It's a glass-reinforced nylon construction to resist rust and corrosion. It has a nice, large reservoir to provide increased capacity for your brake fluid. And if you notice at the top here, uses an automotive-style diaphragm cap which creates a completely enclosed system to help prevent contamination of the brake fluid.On the inside of this actuator, they use an acetol copolymer lining. It provides a nice, smooth operation as the actuator telescopes in and out. If you notice, it has the break-away cable here, which is all included.
It has a snap hook on the end of the cable and ensures secure connection for your break-away lever.This is a heavy-duty construction. It's a bolt-on installation. If you look at the bottom here, it's a two-hole case. It has two mounting holes on each side of the actuator. It does require a half-inch by four and a half-inch long grade five bolts for mounting it, and those are not included.This part is made in the USA.
A few specs on this again, the application, this is for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. Gross towing weight capacity is 8,000 pounds. Maximum tongue weight is 800 pounds. The channel width, the inside to inside is right at three inches. Channel height, we mentioned, is right at eight inches.
