Plug-and-play custom harness gets turn and brake signals on your towed car with no hardwiring or splicing, and no effect on your warranty. The built-in diodes protect your car from electrical feedback.

A combined lighting system, or 2-wire system, uses the same light bulb to signal both braking and turning. (In other words, the car signals a turn by flashing the brake light.)
A separate lighting system, or 3-wire system, has the brake signal and the turn signal light up independently of each other. Typically, the turn signal is amber.
To keep the separate lighting system on your car functioning properly while you're flat towing, add a wiring converter (118158 - sold separately) and 2 additional diodes.
If the engine is off and your car's brake lights illuminate when you press the brake pedal, you need to install a brake light relay (RM-88400 - sold separately) with this kit. Without a relay, your car's brake signal will override the turn signal sent by the RV when you are slowing down to make a turn, creating a potentially dangerous situation. Other drivers will see that you're slowing down, but not that you're making a turn. With a brake light relay, you can signal both and travel safely.

The ease of Plug and Play. This harness is very well put together and solid. It took about 45 minutes to install in my 2006 Chevy HHR. Hardest part was running through the fire wallwhere the main harness went through. I did not need the supplied videos and instructions that were included. Naomi was wonderful in helping me choose the right product for my vehicle and even gave advice on removing an item i though I needed.
The quality of the plugs are very well made and push together very tight. All needed items are included to do a successful installation.

Harness did not work on the driver's side. The good news is Etrailer customer support is shipping me a replacement. Sometimes things don't work, but a good customer service overtakes that.
Product was wadded up in a small box with no instructions. Looked used. The last one I purchased was in a nice blister pack.
If I Hadn't already done an install on my friends HHR I would have needed the instructions.
I'm sure this was a fluke. I've never had a problem with their products in the past and I will purchase again. It works just as it should.

Thanks for leaving a review Captain Ron. This should have come to you in a blister pack. I apologize for the mistake and suggest that if this ever happens again that you call customer service and they will resolve this problem.
Tow wire kit HM56100 was a direct fit for my 2007 Chevy HHR which will be flat towed behind my motor home. Shipment was delivered on time. etrailer is a great company to do business with.
The wiring kit was very easy to install and the instructions were very helpful.

Does your license plate lights work?
Easy to hook up and install the wiring. Ran mine inside the car behind the molding on the floor below the door and through the firewall.
Not the cheapest option but it is the quickest and a cleaner install.
received harness on Tuesday the 4th, installed it on Wed. took about an hour. hardest part is running wires to front of car., but that part would be difficult with any product..
