Question:
Do you plug the factory connector into one of these plugs and the new plug from this harness into the light? Then simply plug the harness into the Motorhome to tow, and unplug it to drive the towed vehicle?

To answer your question simply, yes. The Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit # HM56100 plugs in line with the taillight wiring harness of your 2007 Chevy Cobalt.
You will unplug your taillight harness on your vehicle and then plug it into the corresponding connector of the # HM56100. The other connector of the # HM56100 will then plug into the connector for the vehicle's wiring and the install will be complete.
When you are flat towing this vehicle you will plug the 4-way of this harness into the 4-way of your motorhome and it will operate the Cobalt's taillights.
