Question:

I installed a wiring harness on my 05 toyota avalon for my trailer and everything worked. Now, my tail lights on the car have stopped working, I replaced the fuse for the tail lights but still no tail lights. The brakes, and turn signals still work to the car and trailer. It seems like a fuse for the tail lights, but replacing the fuse did not solve the problem

The wiring harness that you referenced, Hopkins # HM56100, is not intended for use with a trailer. This harness is designed to operate the 2005 Toyota Avalon lights in flat-towing applications when using a tow bar behind a motor home.

The correct trailer wiring harness for your car is Curt # C59236 which is a hard-wired installation that provides a flat-4-pole trailer connector to power your trailer lights. Written installation instructions as well as a video are linked at right.
