When you’re hauling tools, camping gear, or groceries, you want them to stay dry and out of sight. The BAKFlip MX4 uses ½" thick, rustproof aluminum panels with a premium-density foam core to protect your cargo from rain, snow, and sun. Matte black rubber seals and a built-in drainage system channel water away from the bed, while the matte finish resists scratches, scuffs, and UV damage so it keeps looking sharp through every season.
You don’t need to take this cover off to haul large or tall items. The tri-fold design opens in sections so you can quickly reach part or all of the bed. When you need the entire space, the cover folds upright against the cab and secures with prop rods so you can drive with the bed completely open. Integrated buckles let you lock it in the folded, flipped-up, or closed position for steady use on the road.
Security is built right into the design. Each panel latches automatically when you close it, creating a solid, tamper-resistant surface. Once your tailgate is locked, the bed is locked too. The rear seal is shaped so you can open or close the tailgate whether the cover is up or down, making it easy to grab gear without undoing the whole setup.
The MX4 sits flush inside the bed rails for a clean, low-profile look that follows the truck’s lines. Mounting inside the rails keeps the stake pockets open for accessories like ladder or cargo racks. Aircraft-grade aluminum rails with a black powder-coat finish form a sturdy base without drilling into the truck bed, so the cover clamps on securely and stays aligned mile after mile.
Whether you’re carrying kayaks, ladders, or overland gear, the inside-rail design keeps the top of the bed unobstructed for racks that mount on the rail caps. That means you can pair the cover with vertical-upright systems like the Adarac Pro Series or sliding racks like the Thule TracRac SR to haul big loads while keeping everything underneath protected.

The BAKFlip after 2 years is still functioning great. I fixed the curling cushion by applying some strong adhesive to the spots that had detached, taped it in place and let cure for a couple of days. That solved that issue. Would continue to recommend the BAKFlip to others.

You mentioned that the glue holding the pads are failing. I wanted to see if you would be able to send a picture to show the locations.

The cover is still excellent and keeps our items dry and secure on those road trips. I stand by my initial review and still wish the weatherstripping would stick the the spray in liner better but its only been a minor annoyance that hasnt resulted in any water getting into the bed.

Thanks for the great feedback! We're glad you're enjoying the tonneau cover and that being able to use almost the entire truck bed when it's open has been such a big plus. It's also nice knowing your gear stays secure when you lock the tailgate. We appreciate you mentioning the clamps too—that kind of feedback is always helpful. Thanks again, and we hope you keep enjoying your new cover!
