Question:
Is there any overland rack that will work with a folding tonneau cover on my 2019 F150 short bed? Ideally this would be a stake-pocket anchored, like the Putco Venture model. When I called Putco, they were rude and didnt want to talk to me about dimensions for some reason, I think it was near quitting time. Even their own link to Ford instruction resulted in a page not found error link below. Wonder if someone there can help on this answer. My goal is to mount a kayak and canoe - frequent loading and unloading. I would prefer not to use the roof-mounted as I wasnt happy with roof-mounted bars I owned before Rhino and Thule and think the load/unload would be simplified using a bed rack. I like the accessory options too. My cover is a Bakflip MX4.

I have a solution for you, but there are not any ladder or overland racks that are going to allow the full functioning of your BAKFlip MX4 folding tonneau cover; because most ladder/overland racks have an inward tilt, it's normally recommended that you use a rollup tonneau cover like the BAK Revolver X2 # BAK39329.
The Putco Venture Tec is a great solution and is designed to fit on the 2019 Ford F-150 and you can mount this to your truck with the BAKFlip MX4 Folding Tonneau for a 5-1/2 Foot Bed # BAK48329 installed- the one caveat is that you won't be able to fully open the tonneau cover. The Venture Tec mounts into the stake pockets of your truck bed and will allow you carry a kayak or canoe without damaging the tonneau cover. As I mentioned, won't be able to open your tonneau cover completely since it is a flip up tonneau, but it's installation will not interfere with the installation of the Putco Venture Tec.
If you have the 5-1/2 foot bed you'll want to use the Putco Venture Tec # P184100 and if you have the 6-1/2 foot long bed you'll use the Venture Tec # P184110. The cross bars on the Venture Tec are 3" wide and 2.5" tall so I recommend using the Yakima HandRoll Kayak Carrier # Y04082-2, since you'll likely be frequently loading and unloading them. The HandRoll is a roller style system that will make loading and unloading a breeze.

There are some auxiliary instructions for FORD on the putco website that sort of make it look like something at the front stake pockets will reach into the bed which would get in the way of the track of a roll up bead cover. I have the Truxedo Sentry, and I wanted to try this Putco rack but now i'm hesitant. Would want to know the return policy for sure if it doesn't fit. Or, would going with the TracRac from Thule be a safer bet? I mounts through the stake pockets with the rubber expansion plugs so no interference. However, the rails are wide and again, I don't know if they will interfere with the clamp on rails of the bed cover.
