This diagram illustrates the use of this threadlocker:

diagram of threadlocker in use

Threadlocker is applied as a paste to the threads of screws, nuts and bolts before assembly to keep them securely tightened, even when vibration occurs. Threadlocker also seals out air, water and grime to prevent rust or other corrosion from forming. Nuts and bolts that aren't corroded last longer and can be taken apart more easily. Standard hand tools can break the seal of the threadlocker, allowing you to remove treated nuts and bolts, which then can be reused.

This threadlocker is anaerobic (hardens in the absence of air) and requires contact with an active metal to cure. Active metals (those that tarnish, corrode or rust) include brass, copper, bronze, iron, soft steel and nickel. If both parts to be joined are made of inactive materials, Loctite Klean 'N Prime primer must be applied to one of the surfaces for curing to occur. Inactive materials include plated parts, stainless steel, galvanized steel, magnetite steel, pure aluminum, titanium, magnesium, gold, silver, plastic, cadmium, Iconel, zinc, natural or chemical black oxide and anodized aluminum.

Klean 'N Prime can speed the cure rate of Threadlocker Blue Stick. This is especially helpful when you are applying the adhesive to any material, active or inactive, in colder temperatures (below 70 F).

I will never go back to liquid threadlockers. This should be the industry standard. No mess, no waste, much more control, no spilling, and countless more benefits. I use it for small screws, so it makes it much easier to apply a more reasonable amount so I don't end up stripping the torx heads when I remove them from having to put too much torque on it to remove them. My only complaint about this product is that I didn't find it sooner!

great! I have a set of these and ran out of the blue. Couldn't find it locally except in the size that holds only half as much. I was happy to find it here on etrailer. Great job etrailer.

Just what I was looking for at a great price.

  • Can I Cut Off the Excess Bolt Length on the etrailer Over-The-Cab Truck Ladder Rack?
Sounds like you solved the problem Tom! That's exactly what I would do with the bolts on the etrailer Over-The-Cab Truck Ladder Rack item # e78FV. They stick out quite a ways and once you get them torqued down there's no need to have all that excess. I recommend throwing some Loctite like the Blue Stick Threadlocker item # LT37614 on those bolts before you cut them off. If you have any additional questions feel free to add them to the comment box below and I'll be happy to help you.

  • Recommended Solution for Shackle Bolts That are Backing Themselves Out
Mark, there is no torque specs unfortunately. You're just going to want to make sure that the bolts are long enough, so that when they're installed you have at least 2 threads peeking out of the nut. You could also use some blue Locktite, # LT37614, which isn't as permanent as the red Locktite but will (hopefully) keep the bolts from backing out.

  • Can I Use Threadlocker When Installing Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes?
Hey Don welcome back! I wouldn't go that route with treadlocker like item # LT37614 to install the Dexter Electric Trailer Brakes item # K23-462-463-00 you purchased. I recommend purchasing a socket extension so you get the bolts torqued on to the required specs.

  • Should Thread Locker be Used when Installing Trailer Suspension U-bolts
Lock nuts alone should have been fine but you could use some Loctite, # LT37614, for extra protection. Make sure to use the blue Loctite and not the red version. The red would make it very, very difficult to remove the nuts. Since you mentioned the lock nuts failed then I recommend replacing not just the nuts but the u-bolts as well. The threads could have been damaged on the u-bolts so it is better to go ahead and replace them. I have included a link to our trailer suspension u-bolt main...

  • Is Red Loctite Required to Use Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier RM-195225
It is not necessary to use red Loctite like # LT37420 on the hitch bolt of the Roadmaster Hitch Mounted Spare Tire Carrier # RM-195225. It is optional, like you mentioned, and the intent with the Loctite is simply added tightness at the connection and security since the bolt is anti-rattle and not locking. What you can do instead is use Loctite Blue # LT37614 like you mentioned, and instead of the hairpin on the hitch bolt, use the RoadMaster Quick-Disconnect Padlock # RM-301.

  • Does Curt Trailer Hitch 12038 Come with Lock Washers for Installation on a 2003 Subaru Forester
Curt Trailer hitch # C12038 does not include lock washers. So it wasn't that you didn't get them it is that the hitch doesn't come with them. Using Loctite would be a great idea. Blue Loctite is should be all you need, # LT37614. Because the red Loctite is pretty much permanent. So should the hitch need to be removed for any reason, it would take pneumatic tools if you used red Loctite. Also, make sure the bolts are torqued to the specifications in the instructions. If they are too loose...

  • What Can be Done to Help Rock Tamers Bolts Keep From Loosening
What you can do to keep the Rock Tamers Heavy-Duty, Adjustable Mud Flap System for 2" Hitches # ERT00108 from loosening up - along with torquing to spec - is apply some Loctite Blue Stick Threadlocker # LT37614. The Loctite Blue # LT37614 will help secure the bolts and keep them from loosening, but won't permanently affix them so the bolts will still be removable if need be. Just keep in mind it takes a full 24 hours for the Loctite to fully set.

  • What Hardware Is Needed To Mount The ARB 813402 Awning To A 2019 Honda Odyssey?
I did a little research on your ARB 813402 awning, and I was able to find out that you can use the Replacement M6x35 Square Head Bolt for Thule OutRide, ProRide, ProRide XT, UpRide Bike Racks # TH33RV with the washer # 951-1016-54. I wasn't able to find a definitive length of bolt you'd need, however if # TH33RV is too long you can just cut the bolt down to meet your needs. Finally, I also recommend using some blue medium strength Loctite like the # LT37614 to keep everything secure.

  • Concern About Nuts Vibrating Loose on Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down # RR5K
You will want to use the included hardware to install the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring Tie Down, part # RR5K. If you are concerned with the lower bolts vibrating loose over time, I would recommend using Loctite Blue Stick Threadlocker, part # LT37614. I have linked instructions for the Threadlocker for reference.
