Installation
This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located inside the vehicle's rear cargo area. You will have to remove the rear threshold plate, cargo trays, and some interior paneling to access the harness.
Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery and insert the provided fuse.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com, and today we're gonna take a look at this T-One vehicle wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector. Now this harness is designed to fit the 2021 and newer Kia Rio five door, and to confirm that this is gonna work for your vehicle, I would recommend taking advantage of our vehicle fit guide and put in the year, make and model of your vehicle, and our fit guide will let you know if this will work for your vehicle. This harness provides a 4-pole flat trailer connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. It is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. And those adapters are sold separately, but you can find them on our website. And included is this dust cap and it is tethered to the 4-pole flat connector, so you don't have to lose it.
And this is going to protect the connector from dust, dirt, and debris when it's not being used. So you're not gonna have to worry about that connection getting dirty. Now this black box that is wired into the harness is a ModuLite power module, and the ModuLite ensures that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer. It connects directly to your vehicle's battery to avoid any problems with the electrical system, overloading it, or any other problems. This is gonna be reducing the strain on your vehicle's wiring system.
Now this harness is designed to connect quickly and easily, so there is no splicing of wires, no alteration to your vehicle's wiring which could lead to damage or void warranties. The connections with the yellow wires are gonna go to the driver's side, and the connection with the green wires are gonna go to the passenger side of the vehicle. And you are gonna need to locate your vehicle's taillight wiring harness by removing the rear threshold plate, the cargo trays, and some interior covering to access the harness. And then you're going to separate the taillight connectors, again, the yellow wires going to your driver's side taillight connector. And you want to be careful not to break the locking tabs.
And then you'll just insert the T-connector ends between the vehicle wiring connectors and lock them into place. You'll do that on the driver's side and on the passenger side, and these T-connectors are custom fitted for your vehicle, so they're gonna match up perfectly with the connection points on the vehicle and they're gonna snap and lock together for a tight secure fit. Now, once you have those T-connectors plugged in, you are going to need to make a ground connection. And the ground wire is this white wire, and as you can see, it has a ring terminal attached to it and it does come with a self-tapping screw, so you can get that grounded to a suitable location, such as the vehicle's frame or cross member. Just make sure that that surface is clean and rust free.
And then you're gonna need to mount this converter box to a safe, out-of-the-way location, and you can do that with a mounting screw, if you have one, or this double-sided adhesive tape and then you would just find a nice suitable place to mount that. You can even use a cable tie, run that through the hole here to secure that. Next you will need to run the hot lead, which is this black wire, to the vehicle's battery. And this short black wire is going to get connected to one end of this included bundle of black wire. So you would connect this short black wire, using one of the included butt connectors, to this bundle of black wire, and then the other end of this black wire bundle is going to get routed to your vehicle's battery. And once you have this routed to the battery, then you would take the fuse holder and then you would cut this yellow wire in half and connect one of the wires with the second butt connector to the routed wire. And then the other half of this fuse holder gets a ring terminal, which is included, attached to it and then you would connect that to the positive post of your vehicle battery. And it does come with a 15 amp fuse and then that's going to go into this holder. And as you can see, it has a fuse cap that fits very tightly. And then you would just pop that fuse in there and that's gonna keep that fuse safe and protected. Now you can secure any excess wires that you have, any slack, with several of these cable ties. And I think you're are gonna have more than enough to make sure that the wire that you, especially the wire that you route, is going to be nice and secure underneath your vehicle. Now, once the installation is complete, you're gonna have that 4-way flat connector, and you can stow that in your rear cargo area. And then when you're ready to use that, you just open up your hatch, run that through, run it in between your weather stripping, keeping it away from the striker plate or where your hatch actually makes connection to lock, and then this will just run in between that weather stripping and you can plug that into your trailer. Now, the maximum amperage for the stop turn lights is 5 amps per circuit, and for the taillights, it's 7.5 amps per circuit. This is constructed of 16-gauge bonded wire. Instructions are included to help you step-by-step with the installation. It is also recommended that you get a small amount of dielectric grease on your electrical connections, like the plugs on the vehicle and your 4-pole connector itself. It is designed to help prevent electrical failures caused by corrosion and moisture. If you'd like to pick that up, you can find a tube of that on our website using item number 11755. Well, that's gonna conclude our look today. I hope it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy, thank you for joining me..
