The Yakima BaseLine FX Roof Rack keeps a clean, low-profile style with its flush design. The crossbars sit snugly without extending past the towers, giving a factory look rather than an add-on feel. It blends in smoothly and looks purpose-built for your vehicle while still offering the strength and function of a full roof rack system.
Long highway drives can bring a lot of wind noise from your roof rack. The aerodynamic, JetStream-style crossbars help reduce that drag and vibration. Push-down rubber strips fill the top channels to cut down on whistling while sealing out wind and weather. It keeps trips quieter and more relaxed without needing extra fixes or adjustments.
Whether it’s a summer paddleboard session or a winter ski trip, this rack can handle it. The bars work with both channel-mount accessories and clamp-on attachments, so you can use the gear you already own—bike racks, kayak carriers, cargo boxes, or snow gear mounts. It’s built to carry up to 165 lbs (always check your vehicle’s roof load limit) so you can pack confidently for any adventure.

The integrated crossbar and tower setup installs directly on a naked roof using a custom fit kit designed for your vehicle. There are no extra parts to piece together—it’s a complete system that locks in securely and uses Yakima’s Same Key System (SKS) lock cores (sold separately) for theft deterrence when you’re parked.
The crossbars are made from durable aluminum with a black finish that resists corrosion and wear. Each bar measures 44-3/4" long x 5" wide x 3-1/2" tall with top channel dimensions of 7/8" wide x 7/16" tall x 7/16" opening. That solid build helps it stand up to years of hauling kayaks, canoes, or cargo boxes while keeping weight down and maintaining performance on every trip.

These work well but were not as easy to put on as I expected. My car is small. I ended up having to increase the distance between the two towers by 1/4" to make them fit but now they seem great!

Bought as a pkg for my 2017 Golf R with Round Bars since I had a bunch of Yakima bike racks and a canoe gunwale rack for my old Yakima set up. Installation was easy with good instructions. All measurements from the Yakima site appear to be spot on.

Relatively easy to install on my VW Golf (etrailer videos are very helpful) and sooooo useful with my Yakima skybox. Not much road noise, so I can leave the rack on even when I am not using it.
The installation was super easy, and despite a long time stuck in shipping the delivery itself was extremely fast, and the package arrived in spotless condition. The manuals were very easy to follow, and the end result is absolutely amazing. They provided a nice, flush finish and hold the racks down tight.
The racks are easy to remove and reinstall once they are set up. My only complaint is that Yakama only seems to make the base clips in one length. This limits the distance that I can separate the bars to 32 inches. They don't reach under the door sill if I move them further back. If they stamped them out in a few different lengths one would have more options in terms of distance between the bars.
