How To Reuse Yakima Q-Towers on a 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Question:

I have older Q Tower Yakima racks and bike carriers in excellent condition ,,,used infrequently and never left on car for extended time. Got through 2 cars over many years. And then I buy a 2018 VW GTI... Not adverse to buying new base racks after years of good use. But then I have to buy new bike carriers, etc. Can old Q Towers fit GTI with different clips? Yakima says basically good luck. Or do I buy new Yakima towers w round bar adapters? Conversely, Can I buy thule and use Yakima round bar accessories with adapters. Any wisdom to share is appreciated. Thanks for your feed back.

I do have an option for you but I don't have any way for you to use your old Q-Towers on your new 2018 Volkswagen Golf GTI because the clips are just not available. The best option you have to reuse some of the components you have now is to purchase new clips part # Y06123 for the front and part # Y06125 for the rear, new feet part # Y28TR, and the adapter part # Y03536.

I am not sure what you are asking in regards to Thule but most of their accessories will work with the Yakima round bars. I have attached an install video of the above system on a similar Golf as well.
