Recommended Roof Rack and Kayak Carrier for a 2003 Toyota RAV4

I have a 2003 Toyota Rav4, bare roof. I want to install something for kayaks and similar on the roof. I have looked but cant find side rails for it. Is it because they are not made? Is the proper way to do that is with cross rails? What do you carry for this application? Thanks

Lucky for you, Yakima does make a set of crossbars that are designed to work with vehicle's that have a bare roof like your RAV4.

These crossbars measure 44 3/4" long, has a 165 lb dynamic weight capacity, and has an integrated top channel for roof mounted accessories.
Since you also are looking for a way to transport some kayaks, I'd recommend checking out the Rhino-Rack Kayak Roof Rack w/ Tie-Downs # S512-S512X.
This kayak carrier will be able to carry up to 2 kayaks and will easily install to the crossbars by clamping around the bars.
