The top channels accept channel-mount accessories while also working with clamp-on attachments, so you can use what you already have or swap between setups for different adventures.
Some racks make you cut rubber channel covers just to mount accessories. These bars use split strips that open for mounting and close right back up around your gear. It keeps installation simple and helps block out wind and weather without extra steps.
