Long drives can get tiring fast if your roof rack hums and rattles above you. The aerodynamic shape of the WingBar Evo helps smooth airflow to reduce that wind noise. The top channels have split rubber strips that close around your accessory mounts, sealing out air gaps that cause whistling and vibration. It’s a quiet setup that makes road trips and daily drives more enjoyable.
Whether it’s camping gear, a cargo box, or water sports equipment, you can stack your weekend essentials with confidence. The aluminum construction keeps weight down while holding up to 165 lbs of cargo. It’s sturdy enough for everything from kayaks and skis to luggage and tools—just make sure to follow your vehicle’s roof load limit.
Some racks make you pick one style of mount, but this setup gives you both. The aero-style crossbars work with accessories that mount in the top channels or clamp around the bars, so you can use your existing gear or add new pieces later. That means you can switch between a kayak cradle, bike rack, or cargo carrier in minutes without needing special adapters.
Mounting accessories shouldn’t take longer than the adventure itself. The split strip design in the top channels means you don’t have to cut or remove anything when adding new gear. Slide your mounts right into place—the strips part for installation and close back around them automatically. It keeps things simple while still blocking noise and debris.
You can upgrade this setup with Thule One-Key System locks (sold separately) to secure both the rack and any channel-mounted accessories. It’s an easy way to keep your equipment safe when parked overnight or while grabbing food on the road, giving you peace of mind wherever your trip takes you.

Review of Entire set: After a year of using this, it still works very well. Easy to take on and off your car and make slight adjustments if needed. Only maintaining is really just cleaning it which is simple enough. No issues with lockingunlocking with the keys. It has definitely helped saved space for my tiny Honda Civic.

My purchase from etrailer.com was world class. And their service was superb. They are a 5-star organization. They are knowledgeable folks with experience in what they sell. They will quickly get you out of what would otherwise be a nasty, complex situation and make it look easy. You can trust this company. Put them to work for you. Note, I do not own stock in this company but wish I did.

I can see that you got the 52 inch Thule square bars. The square bars are known to whistle compared to the aerodynamic cross bars. I recommend the Thule AirScreen XT part # TH22WV to divert the wind up and over the cross bars to eliminate some of the wind noise.

Most of the time whistling occurs because the rubber strip is not covering the whole channel. You can find installation tips here in the attached expert answer. There will be some wind noise as with all brands of roof racks. Wind fairings greatly reduce that by adding an aero-dynamic ramp allowing the wind to flow over the roof rack. The Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars that you purchased are actually designed to act as a fairing so one would not be needed. You could still get one if you wanted to try it out. This one would be the best match for you: item # Y05018.
