Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, we're gonna be test fitting the Yakima High Speed Roof Bike Rack, part number Y02115. We already have a bike installed on the rack. Let's take a closer look and show off some of the features. How this actually grips your bike, it's gonna have two points of contact with no frame contact at all, which is nice for bikes of this style with a carbon frame. At the front, it's gonna grip it by your fork mouth with this 9 mm skewer. This can be switched out and you can use this with through-axles as well, and then that would be locked in place. At the rear, we'll have this wheel strap which is adjustable the length of the bike rack to accommodate for bikes of different sizes. With everything installed as it is, we're not gonna have any issue of clearance between the rear hatch and our bike rack, as you can see here. At the rear of our bike rack, we do have the option of an integrate cable lock, but you do need to purchase the core 00:00:56 locks separately.
This is so you can make everything inaudible 00:00:59 on your roof.Let's go ahead and take the bike off. Very easy, you just go to the rear strap here, push in this gray tab at the top to release it. Then we'll come up to the front to our skewer mount, open the lever like so. You can turn it to the left or right to loosen it up as needed. Then lift the bike up and off.How this attaches to your roof, we're gonna have two straps up at the top and they're held into place like so.
You push them through, up to the top, snap them shut and you're good to go. It's gonna be the same for the rear mount. However, the rear mount does have a lock core as well so you can secure your bike rack to the roof rack. There you have it for the Yakima High Speed Roof Bike Rack on our 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe.Here on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is gonna show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering.Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up and down action.
This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, parking garage or driveway.Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or a pothole or driving over uneven pavement.
Can’t believe it’s already been a year since I have had these. Never had an issue with these to this day. Easy install and removal, great for through axle, look great and are built with quality in mind. I’m extremely happy with this product and would definitely recommend it.
Product works as described. Thanks for the great service and fast shipping!
This was the easiest part to put on the entire truck rack. Went on really easy, and the straps hold it down very securely. The 2 bikes don’t move at all on the rack! Plus the included locking cable is a great security feature
Purchased this rack to haul my mountain bike across the country on top of my truck. It was easy to set up, the bike was very stable on the trip, and the integrated bike lock cable was a great feature.
Not only did etrailer have what I needed- (many retailers didn't have this product due to covid related production issues), but it was delivered with tracking info and updates to my door promptly, with free shipping. The instructions were as top-notch as the service. I had my Yakima HighSpeed bike mount on the car and ready to roll within minutes. The mounting is solid, and the finish looks great. I am now able to carry any of my bikes securely on this mount... I will definitely order from these folks again!
So far this has been a very nice bike rack. The integrated lock, the ability to accept a front fork with or without axle, have been nice. The action of the big tightening knob is good. And I had to take it off quickly to put kayaks on, and it took less than 30 seconds to remove from the roof.
I just received the bike rack but since it's winter, I haven't had a chance to use it beyond a quick test mount to my car.
Pros: Easy to install and remove. Seems to be sturdy and when I had my bike mounted (see cons) it seemed to hold well.
Cons: This is a big one if you have 12mm thru axles. The included adaptor requires you to still use the 9mm skewer. My right fork axle threads are capped so I'm unable to use the included 12mm adaptor. I had to buy another 12mm adaptor (yay, another $60) to mount my bike.
Yakima has fallen! Yet another outdoor company who used to actually serve the needs of real outdoors people. Now their products have become mid tier all purpose overpriced Normie slop. You would think an outdoor sports rack company selling a $300+ dollar bike rack might actually fit a real mountain bike. It does not. This appears to be for road bike forks or the very basic Walmart tier mountain bike fitment. And does this outdoor enthusiast company offer a wide fork extension part. Of course not! Do not buy if you ride a real mountain bike.
Awesome customer service and great guidance getting me exactly what I wanted and making it easy
I already have one of these and needed another. The best and easiest rack I have ever used. A little pricy but what can you do?
While I'm very impressed with the design and functionality of the yakima bike rack and would highly recommend them, I'm more impressed with the speed of free delivery and customer service of etrailer. Great product selection and great service!
The rack fits my 20 year old roof rack perfect.
