Video Transcript for Test Fit: Yakima HighSpeed Roof Bike Rack on a 2018 Dodge Charger

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Dodge Charger we're doing a test fit of the Yakima high speed roof mounted bike rack. That part number is Y02115. We already have our bike secured down. I first wanted to show you how we secure it in place. Starting at the back, we're going to have a cam buckle on our rear tire. This is quick and easy to remove; we'll simply push on the cam at the top and pull our strap through.

A great thing about our rear strap is that it is going to be adjustable up and down the length of our bike rack. At the front here we're going to have a skewer. This is going to fit in between our through axle mounts. This is a through axle bike rack. To loosen our skewer we need to open up our leverage here on the side, then we can loosen and tighten it using our notch on the other side. We'll take that off, and then we can show you how to tighten that skewer.

Just behind where the skewer is mounted, this is actually going to loosen and tighten our two wedges up here. Rotating it will loosen and tighten this wedge, and allow us to adjust through axle sizes and our wedge as well. Now we'll take a look back here at how our bike rack is secured down. Starting off, we're going to have one strap. This portion does have an option to lock, but we'll just slide it back for now and we'll lift up on this lever.

This is where our strap attaches. On the inside you'll see our bolt. This bolt loosens and tightens to give us a nice secure fit with our strap. Once completely tight, we'll close that up and slide the cover over top.At the front we're going to have the same thing; we'll just have two straps, one on each side. Again, slide the cover back, open up the lever, you'll see our bolt in there that loosens and tightens.

Snap it tight, close it up, and lock it into place. A great thing about these straps is that they are gonna fit around a lot of different styles of crossbars, like our Arrow ones we keep here. inaudible 00:02:16 a round, square, elliptical, and most factory. So that's gonna be our complete look at the Yakima high speed roof bike rack, part number Y02115 on our 2018 Dodge Charger. Speaker 2: Here on our test course we'll start by going through the inaudible 00:02:33. This is going to show us the side to side action. This simulates turning corners or evasively maneuvering. Once we get to the full speed bumps we'll see the up and down action. This'll be just like driving out of a parking lot, parking garage, or driveway. Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole, or driving over uneven pavement.

Product works as described. Thanks for the great service and fast shipping!

Can’t believe it’s already been a year since I have had these. Never had an issue with these to this day. Easy install and removal, great for through axle, look great and are built with quality in mind. I’m extremely happy with this product and would definitely recommend it.

This was the easiest part to put on the entire truck rack. Went on really easy, and the straps hold it down very securely. The 2 bikes don’t move at all on the rack! Plus the included locking cable is a great security feature

by:

Purchased this rack to haul my mountain bike across the country on top of my truck. It was easy to set up, the bike was very stable on the trip, and the integrated bike lock cable was a great feature.

Not only did etrailer have what I needed- (many retailers didn't have this product due to covid related production issues), but it was delivered with tracking info and updates to my door promptly, with free shipping. The instructions were as top-notch as the service. I had my Yakima HighSpeed bike mount on the car and ready to roll within minutes. The mounting is solid, and the finish looks great. I am now able to carry any of my bikes securely on this mount... I will definitely order from these folks again!

Awesome customer service and great guidance getting me exactly what I wanted and making it easy

by:

So far this has been a very nice bike rack. The integrated lock, the ability to accept a front fork with or without axle, have been nice. The action of the big tightening knob is good. And I had to take it off quickly to put kayaks on, and it took less than 30 seconds to remove from the roof.

by:

I just received the bike rack but since it's winter, I haven't had a chance to use it beyond a quick test mount to my car.
Pros: Easy to install and remove. Seems to be sturdy and when I had my bike mounted (see cons) it seemed to hold well.
Cons: This is a big one if you have 12mm thru axles. The included adaptor requires you to still use the 9mm skewer. My right fork axle threads are capped so I'm unable to use the included 12mm adaptor. I had to buy another 12mm adaptor (yay, another $60) to mount my bike.

by:

While I'm very impressed with the design and functionality of the yakima bike rack and would highly recommend them, I'm more impressed with the speed of free delivery and customer service of etrailer. Great product selection and great service!

The rack fits my 20 year old roof rack perfect.

See what our Experts say about this Yakima Roof Bike Racks

  • Differences Between Second and Third Generation Yakima HighSpeed Roof Mount Bike Racks
Great question, Kris! The Yakima HighSpeed Roof Bike Rack # Y78DJ is the newest edition of the HighSpeed and is replacing the part # Y02115. There aren't any life-changing upgrades to the newest edition, but enough that I recommend going with it over the older version. For example, the newest model has an off-road rating (which doesn't matter to a lot of people) and then it fits with a slightly larger wheelbase - up to 50" as opposed to 48" that the older one was rated for. Another subtle...

  • Is There Roof Bike Rack that Fits Rhino Rack Vortex Bars that Fits Thru Axle Bikes
Hey Ron, the Yakima HighSpeed roof bike rack part # Y78DJ is compatible with your Rhino Rack Vortex roof crossbars and also fits the 12 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm thru axles so it would work great for you unless you have a different thru axle size.

  • What is Your Recommended Roof Rack and Bike Rack for 2024 IS350?
Hello Alec, No, the # C11372 fit the Lexus IS 350 through 2012. The last year that they made a hitch for the IS 350 was 2021. There might have not been a high demand for them, or the IS 350 is no longer rated for a hitch. I do have a different option for you. Your best bet is going to be to get a roof rack like the Yakima BaseLine Roof Rack # Y88XB. The # Y88XB is a kitted part number, so it will come with everything you need to get the roof rack on your vehicle. Then you will want a...

  • Does Inno Truck Bed Cargo Rack Come with C Clamps and Crossbars
Hey Travis, yes the Inno Truck Bed Cargo Rack # INRT101-65 does come with the C-clamps and the crossbars needed to complete a rack in the bed of your truck. Then for a bike rack the Yakima HighSpeed roof bike rack part # Y78DJ would work as well. This works with thru axles and is compatible with the Inno bars as well.
