Question:

I have 2 e-bikes, 55lbs each. I currently use a Thule rack that mounts onto my hitch. If I get the New trailer, what do I need to accommodate e-bikes? Photos helpful.

Hey Leslie, if the batteries of your E-bikes are removable and that would get them to weigh less than 50 lbs you could use the Inno Tire Hold II part # INA389 on the crossbars of the Yakima Rack and Roll trailer part # Y08111. This is the highest rated roof bike rack we carry that is rated for up to 50 lb per bike. Do you have removable batteries?

Yes, the batteries are removable and that does help. I would most likely be transporting 2 bikes, max 100lbs combined.

@JamesonC I want to buy the Yakima Rack and Roll. A friend of mine has a carbon Kevlar kayak. I have a 12’ Eddyline. What are the recommended mounts for these kayaks? I have a complete SweetRoll system here. Can I use that on the Rack and roll? Saddle mounts? Mount face down? I need your expertise! Leslie

@Leslie Hey Leslie, the Sweet Roll part # Y04074 that you referenced can be used on the Rack and Roll trailers like the part # Y08107 so since you have that carrier already that would be what I would use. Are you wanting to carry them upside down though?

Yes, the batteries come off. Now, is it possible to carry two bikes and two kayaks at the same time? Each kayak is under 40 lbs.

@LeslieB You could definitely fit it all if you used a double kayak carrier like the part # MAL38FR.

@JamesonC I would want to mount the bikes on the actual trailer and not the roof of my car. What is the best option for that arrangement?

@Leslie The Inno Tire Hold II part # INA389 I mentioned above would be best option as long as the bikes would weigh under 50 lb with the battery removed.
