Shane: Hey, guys. Shane here with here etrailer.com. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Lippert Components SolidStep Handrail. This handle is designed to work with the SolidSteps. It's going to be a powder-coated aluminum construction. We're not going to have to worry about rust or corrosion.
It's going to come with all the necessary hardware to get it installed. It's going to allow you five inches of adjustability to adjust your height, whether you want it a little bit higher, a little bit lower. This handle is going to be 36 inches tall by 27 inches wide. So we have plenty of handle that we can grab onto to help us getting in and out of the camper, whether we're on the ground or coming out of the camper.This handle is going to be a stationary handle, so once you put it in place, it's going to stay. It's not going to fold up.
However, you can leave it on and fold your steps up inside when you're in storage or when you're storing your camper. Keep in mind if you have furniture like we have here, we have a couch there. This handle will not be able to stay on because it hits the couch. But they make it easy. They have clevis pins.
You pop the pins out, you can pull the handle out, and set it inside the camper until you're ready to use it the next time.The installation process is pretty simple and straightforward. As I mentioned before, it's going to come with all the hardware. One of the brackets at the top is going to mount directly through four of the holes that holds your locking plate in place. You will have to drill four holes for your new bracket at the bottom, not that big a deal. Once you get it installed, it's very sturdy.
Again, it gives you something to grab onto to give you that extra stability when walking in and out. Maybe you have mobility issues. But if you tie this with this one, now you have a handle from the top down to the ground. Keep in mind, this handrail is only going to be designed for the quad steps or the triple steps. It will not work with just the double steps. That's going to do it for a look at the SolidStep Handrail.
Not impressed. Very wobbly in the brackets. It works but could certainly be better.
I added this to my Solid Step and it works as intended. My Mom has Parkinson's and this helps her enter the RV. I leave it in while traveling.

Still very happy with this rail. We are taking as many weekend trip so my mom with Parkinson while she can. This was a game changer for her to enter trailer. I would buy it again.

It still works just like it did the first day I got it. We still use it every day we have moved many times, and it still does its job. I would say it is the best.
Easy setup and helps getting in and out of trailer.

Really like the railing, had to make a small adjustment for our steps. Wish the bolts were harden steel broke two.
Does the job & very prompt delivery
Worked as advertised after prying apart the brackets so the rails would fit.
Vast improvement over stock fold ups.

My wife and I are both over 80 years old. We installed the Lippert rv step because it was getting difficult to get up and down the old steps. We added the hand rail. They were easy to install. I would recommend these to anyone. They are solid and well built.
A great complement to the SolidStep stairs. Much easier to enter the 5th wheel and very sturdy.
We have a Gen 2 step. I was able to use this with the addition of two 6” by 12” aluminum plates.

Great compliment to the solid steps
Upgraded to a new 5th wheel a couple years ago, which had one more step to entry, three instead of two. The handrail near the door works well most of the time, but if we need that extra step at the bottom or are on a slanted pad, getting to the ground felt a little unstable. This additional handrail was relatively simple to install (drill some new holes in existing stairs). It definitely provides the added security going in and out of the rig we were looking for. And it folds up with the new railing not bothering any interior features so we can leave it attached as is all the time.
The pin that’s holds the railing needs to have holes for a cotter pin.Mine kept falling out!
Once installed this assist handle is in just the right place to help my wife get in and out of our trailer. Installation was pretty easy but I have to wonder why the bracket is not designed to use the holes that are pre-drilled in the side of the steps instead of requiring me to drill new holes.
Definitely worth the money, and simple installation. The handrail DOES "wobble" slightly, due to the mounting points being fairly close together - I think it would feel more stable if the lower end attached above the bottom step instead of the second step, but I suppose it might interfere with the adjustment of the feet on the steps.
I ordered the hard step handrail for my Jayco 5th wheel. It was shipped the same day and arrived 2 days later. It was easy to install and feels secure. It’s too bad Jayco isn’t run as well as Etrailer. In the future any purchase possible will be made Thru Etrailer vs. Jayco or my Jayco dealer Albany RV. It is encouraging to find a company (Etrailer) that still has both great products and customer service !
Product was very easy to install, as I did not need to drill any holes in my step frame for my new 5th wheel.
The only concern that I had was that the corrugated box when I received it was in pretty bad shape. Although all the parts were there and their was no damage to the handle.
Excellent product. Easy ordering and quick delivery from etrailer. It was easy to install although the SolidStep I ordered at the same time did not have the number of required holes to mount on the left side as shown. I had to drill the missing holes myself. Definitely would buy again.
This is a high quality addition to our 5th wheel. Sturdy, easy to install, and came just as promised.

Probably one of the best additions we added to our 5th wheel. Added stability to all who were coming inside.
Required holes to be drilled for mounting. Nice solid addition to the steps to aid people with maybe a balance problem, or an aid physical , or just need security. Highly recommend.
With my titanium knees, I definitely need a handrail. I am sure glad I purchased this handrail. It is very sturdy and reliable.
This handle is sturdy enough to be serviceable. It wiggles a bit more than I'd like, but that's due to the removable nature. It takes a bit of doing to use the pins that hold in place. It'll take practice to get good at it. But it will keep us from falling down the stairs and that's the important point.

Not a very well designed product in my opinion. Still using it but not real fond of it.
