Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the replacement, no slip tread tape for your Kwikee steps. This is available as two different parts. There are two different sizes that you can get, and they are just going to come in a single quantity. So if you want the larger size, this is the eight by 25 inch. And then we also have the six by 21 inch, and those are separate part numbers, but they are both available here at etrailer.com to replace or add in some tread to your steps.So if you're taking that old portion off, maybe it's gotten ripped up or it's just worn out and it doesn't really have that grip anymore, it's a good idea to replace it so that you can still get that non-slip feel for the steps.The biggest thing to note whenever you're putting that piece on is that you want to clean off the step really well, get off any kind of residue from the old tread, clean up any grease or oil that might've gone on there, dust and debris and all that kind of stuff.
So maybe using little alcohols rub or some Goo Gone or something else to take up anything that might be sticking to that step. And then just peel off the backing for your tape.It can be a little tricky to get started. Of course, it always helps to have nails. So just peel off that backing, smooth it on there, get it all nice and straight, and you should be good to go. There's really nothing to it other than that.
It's just going to be that nice coarse grain sandpaper material, and that it has that high visibility strip to help you see where the edge of that step is in low light conditions.So again, this one I have loose here, this is 25 inches by eight inches. And the other one that's available is 21 inches by six inches. So you can pick whichever one fits your step best.It's kind of up to you. You can cut this material to length if you want it to be kind of somewhere in between or if your step is even narrower than this one. So that's just something to keep in mind.
It might be a little bit tricky to cut with that course material on there, but shouldn't be anything that's too technical.That's pretty much it as far as our look at the non-slip tape. I couldn’t be happier with this product. As always, e-trailer came through with a great offering and super-fast shipping. Many times when you’re faced with a repair job, you’re just hoping to find something “close enough.” These Lippert anti-skid tapes, however, are exactly the same as the originals on my Kwikee steps.
Installation was super easy—the hardest part was removing the old tape. Once I had the steps prepped (flap disc, wire brush, acetone, and a fresh coat of Rustoleum), the new tape went on perfectly. Ideally, I would have pulled the steps and had them powder-coated, but this solution was much simpler and more than good enough.
If these new strips adhere half as well as the originals did, they’ll probably outlast my motorhome. Highly recommend to anyone needing a solid, factory-match replacement!
I have attached a couple of photos: a couple of the before, and a couple of after. For anyone needing to clean up their motorhome steps, and replace the anti-skid tapes, I can attest 100%, it’s a DIY job.
This particular anti slip pad is t available anywhere other than here. We scratched one up moving and reinstalling the pilot/co-pilot seats. No hardware store nor Amazon had the correct sized replacement. These were perfect.
these are great. non-skid, fit perfectly, stick well, clean easily.
I purchased this wider step covering after painting my RV step. The extra width should offer improved protection. The length was reduced slightly to obtain a custom fit.

What a difference a little change can make. These look great! Used a heat gun to remove the old ones and then cleaned up the surface with a scrapper and goof off. Install was a breeze after that.
Could have used some instructions on how to remove the old adhesive from the lippert steps. The price is also high for something that lasted 5 years and then came off. After installing the steps look original

I recommend to apply a liberal amount of WD-40 to the old adhesive, and allow it to soak in for at least ten minutes. Use a plastic scraper to gently scrape away the old non-slip decal adhesive. Apply more WD-40, if necessary, and continue scraping until the area is clean and free from decal adhesive.
They worked great.
Great quality, was easily cut to size and shape needed to replace a worn out step cover. An added feature from the original was the yellow safety stripe.
Is still affixed as good as the day I installed it – this replacement really makes your steps look new again !
While the lighted safety handle turned out to not fit my coach, I was super impressed with the young lady that handled my order, her follow up and the speed of delivery. I ordered one afternoon and received it the next day!!!

Seems expensive but received 2 of these quick and they were a good product just as expected. Also, I could only find this size on this site to replace the ones I have on my automatic RV steps. Good product.
