go power 3,000 watt inverter charger

Combining an inverter, converter charger, and transfer switch, the Go Power IC Series 2,000-watt inverter charger puts three essential RV functions into one unit. The compact size takes up less space in your RV and simplifies installation. It lets you convert AC shore power into DC power to charge your batteries, inverts your DC battery output into AC power to power electronics and appliances, and automatically transfers to shore power when available.

Pure Sine Wave Inverter Produces Clean AC Power

go power inverter charger installed

The pure sine wave inverter changes DC output from your RV batteries into AC power and sends it to the electrical system. It creates clean power with low distortion, making it safe, efficient, and perfect for sensitive electronics like computers. Plus, the inverter can generate 4,000 starting watts and 2,000 running watts which is a great fit for larger appliances or multiple devices.

Smart Converter Charger with Automatic Multistage Charging System

The smart converter charger converts AC shore power into DC power to charge your battery bank. If your RV already has a stock converter charger, it will need to be removed to ensure this part of the unit operates properly.

Using a multistage charging system, the converter charger automatically switches voltages while the battery bank charges. This accelerates the charge, but also helps extend battery life by adjusting the voltage during the different modes. It is compatible with sealed/gel, AGM, flooded/wet cell, and lithium batteries. And with the included fixed-mount remote, you can select charging profiles for the different battery types.

Charging Modes

  1. Bulk: This mode charges at the full rated load for a quicker recharge time. As the name suggests, this is where the bulk of the charging happens. It typically charges the battery to at least 80% capacity.
  2. Absorption: This mode provides controlled voltage to ensure a full charge. Once the battery reaches between 80% to 90% capacity, the absorption state will kick in and start charging at a regulated voltage. This mode is set to last for 2 hours after the bulk charge is completed.
  3. Float: Once the battery reaches full charge, this mode maintains a lower voltage to compensate for self-discharge. This reduces battery stress and minimizes gassing and water loss.
  4. Equalization: On flooded batteries, this mode (which is only accessible with the included fixed-mount remote) activates to prevent stratification and sulfate buildup during extended float cycles. These two issues can damage a battery by causing the accumulation of acid at the bottom of the battery and hardened sulfate crystals on the battery plates. This mode is especially helpful when your battery is going unused during storage.

Automatically Switches to Shore Power

The integrated transfer switch selects the primary source of AC current. The switch inside of this inverter charger has been pre-wired to automatically change from inverter to shore power to conserve battery life. This switch includes (2) 50-amp legs, which allows you to use up to 100 amps by passing through 12,000 watts on a shore power service. The legs are rated at 120V each, but they can be used as a 240V split-phase or 240V dual input if needed. This would be useful if your RV has larger appliances, such as a clothes dryer or oven range. However, if you plan on using an on-board generator and shore power, you still need an external transfer switch to link power to the inverter charger. If you are just utilizing shore power, you only need this unit since you are switching between two sources.

To prevent electrical interruptions, the time delay circuit board allows the alternate power source to stabilize before a transfer occurs. Additionally, since the switch only accepts one active source, it protects your electrical system from dangerous backfeed that can damage your equipment.

Fixed-Mount Remote

inverter charger remote

The included fixed-mount remote lets you monitor and control the inverter charger from inside your RV. It includes a digital display that shows the voltage, output power, status, temperature, and charging activity. You can also customize settings like your battery profile, charge rate, and more. And it has a power button that lets you turn the inverter charger on and off.

Connections and Status Lights

inverter charger terminals

The inverter charger includes AC input and output terminals that connect to your AC panel and shore power input. It has DC input terminals which connect to your batteries. Additionally, it has ports for the fixed-mount remote and battery sensor. It also has 2 LEDs that show fault conditions and operation mode. Lastly, it has a power switch that controls the inverter charger.

Safety Features

The system includes a number of safety features. It offers protection from over/under voltage and overloading. The inverter also uses a heat sink process to protect from extreme temperatures, and an internal cooling fan removes excess heat from the unit.

fuse installation

For additional safety, installing a fuse between the battery bank and the inverter charger will protect your equipment from power surges. The Go Power 300-amp fuse block (sold separately) works with this unit and uses a slow blow time-delay feature to withstand surge current. This means it can handle short surges over 300 amps without blowing the fuse, which is great for devices with motors that require more energy to start.

Battery Temperature Sensor Adds Additional Battery Protection

battery temp sensor

The battery temperature sensor protects the battery bank from large temperature fluctuations. As the inverter charger experiences changes in temperature, the sensor compensates for those changes by adjusting the voltage during charging to help extend the life of your batteries. This protects from overcharging in hot temperatures and undercharging in cold temperatures. The voltage adjustments also ensure that you are getting the most from your charge.

How It Installs

The inverter charger mounts inside your RV in a dry location with ventilation. It should be installed in close proximity to the battery bank, but not in the same compartment. The DC terminals are wired to the battery bank. There are several ways to connect the inverter section to your RV's electrical system, but this will depend on your rig and how you want to use your inverter. Also, the temperature sensor installs to the negative battery terminal and plugs in the battery temperature port on the inverter charger.

I originally hooked the inverter charger up to deep cycle marine lead acid (wet cell) batteries but have since upgraded to lithium batteries. What a difference in performance. I highly recommend LiTime batteries. They are 1/2 the weight and perform lead acid batteries in every way. The settings on the inverter charger needed to be changed by am very happy with it. The charger failed in just less than a year but they replaced the failed unit promptly after providing the pertinent information. Great service! Love it. It allows us with the lithium batteries to Boondock with the convenience of 120 volt appliances!

by:

I have this installed and the included remote does not work as described in the instructions. When not connected to shore power the remote shows the charger function on yet the instructions say this is not an option.

Also, I changed the power saver mode to 15 minutes from the default off. I didn’t see a change in the remote output after several hours.

Less than 10 days after I ordered this etrailer dropped the price $XXX.XX. That’s not insignificant and they wouldn’t do anything for me about it.

I reached out to the manufacturer about the experience that you are having with the inverter. They advised that when the RV is connected to shore power the charge function should be on. It will always start to charge when shore power is applied. It can be stopped from charging by pressing the charger on[off button. You had mentioned that you had changed the power save mode to 15 minutes from the default. Did you change the search watts to 15 amps? Can you give more details as to what setting you changed?

by:

I replaced my magnum that went out due to a wiring issue. It was easy to replace for the most part although the wire to the controll panel was 6 wire and the old one was 4. It works very well. All I lost was the self start of the old one. Very good product.

by:

Installed last year in a horse trailer with living quarters. Using with a pair of Dakota lithium batteries. Works great. Powers Microwave with ease. love the ability to pull from battery while also using generator; i can run both microwave and coffee maker together like this.

Points of note:
1) When inverter is turned on there is a quiet weird chirp occasionally. If you're a light sleeper sensitive to sounds, be prepared for a "what is that?" if it is installed in the LQ area.
2) If batteries are full and i plug in my Furman generator (Costco purchased from Costco), the generator gets tripped in to overload when float charging is enabled. Not an issue when charging batteries.

by:

The product itself so far so good. Customer service was good. BUT I thought the # 34277742 switch for my inverter was included with the inverter, I even e mailed the ad to separate sales guys showing them that their ad says the switch is included, bottom line I was out more money for a switch, extremely disappointing, seems like false advertising but what can you do.

Everything went well. I’m very pleased with the service & Inverter.

When I installed the inverter to my camper I was unaware that the entire camper would be run through this inverter protected wit 20a breaker which would not handle the load when air conditioner was used. I have since isolated the inverter and installed a subpanel to handle the just the refrigerator and gfci outlets. We will be primitive camping next week and I can update this rating then.

by:

One year + later, this inverter is great! I have it connected to two battleborn lithium batteries. We can run our TV although we don’t much, our Microware, or our coffee Kirin machine - of course not all at once. The fan is a bit noisy but it only fires up when drawing heavy from the inverter. Love it and recommend it.

by:

This was a like for like replacement for 1500watt Go Power in my Lance camper, so installation was easy and it was delivered the day after I ordered it. I was surprised it arrived so quickly. I will certainly keep that in mind if I get stranded at a campground.

by:

This inverter was exactly what the customer needed for their small RV solar setup. After a few adjustments to power flow and charge setup, it works wonderfully. From a tech point of view, I like the flow-through 50A service and ease of installation.

by:

We had an unexpected failure of a well known inverter product. We were in desperate need as we were moving permanently out of state. This product was just what we needed to keep our fridge powered while on the road during our move. We appreciate the hard work and dedication to get this new product to us before we moved. Kristin did an amazing job to get us going without any hitches. Thank you!

by:

Good advice to help decide which inverter is right for us. Really fast shipping and delivery.

by:

I am always amazed at how well the team and eTrailer service customers. The communication from product purchase to delivery is exceptional. Price/value of products is highly appreciated as well. I always save time and money when going to eTrailer to find parts for my Lance 2445 Trailer.

by:

Works great, the unit is powering a work shed in the backyard. The Inverter is paired up with 400w of solar and two battleborn 100a batteries. The unit replaced a 3000w inverter from another company that fried twice within a year.

by:

This product is reliable and works well to the stated 400 watts when the load is steady. I like that this unit works well with my 29.4V DC battery pack (7S). Past 250 watts, even small surges will trip the unit off. At around 250 watts(steady) my quart compressor cooler will kill AC power out when it kicks on. It appears that the 600 watt surge rating is inaccurate.

by:

The inverter works very well. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because the front of the unit is made with cheap plastic. The screws that hold the electric outlet in the front of the unit is embedded into the plastic. The plastic broke the first time I plugged into the outlet. I was leaving in two days to go on a trip to Utah so did not send it back. I voided the warranty by opening the unit, reinforced the outlet by sandwiching the plastic front in between two pieces of aluminum and used screws to hold the outlet in place. Since doing this, everything has worked flawlessly.

I would not buy this item again due to the plastic front.

Ordered Monday night at 6:30 pm and it showed up Thursday at noon with the free shipping option. Can’t beat that! Now I get to install over the weekend instead of waiting until the original arrival date of Monday. Will give 4 stars for now until it’s installed and working. Hefty unit at 50 lbs. install in my 2015 Amped 28FS looks like it will be very straight forward. Thanks etrailer for the quick shipping. Now I can’t wait to do some serious boondocking especially when my solar is installed and I can minimize the generator running!
