Recommended Invertor for a Travel Trailer w/a 13,500 Btu AC System

Updated 03/12/2026 | Published 03/11/2026

Question:

I have just purchased a Winnebago 2108 travel trailer. I would like to install an inverter that can handle the small 120volt loads like the TV, but also run the 13,500 btu Air conditioner for short periods of time. This Winnebago trailer comes “Inverter Prepped” from the factory. What equipment do I need to complete this job?

Hey Jim, congrats on your new trailer! Since you have a 13,500 Btu AC unit, I recommend the Victron MultiPlus-II Inverter Charger item # VN43VR. This is a 3,000 watt inverter that's going to run your AC and have plenty of power to run smaller devices.

It is highly recommended to install a soft start on your AC system when using an inverter. Running the AC will only draw 1,500ish watts but startup can range from pulling 2,500 - 3,500 watts depending on what specific model of AC system you have.

What brand or model AC system does your Winnebago have and do you have a soft start? Also how many amp hours is your battery bank?

You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.
