  • Will The 50amp Hughes Autoformer Voltage Booster/Surge Protector Work On 30amp Service Pedestals
Since you're using a 30amp pedestal the Hughes Autoformer Voltage Booster with Surge Protection - 50 Amp # HU57FR isn't going to boost that power to 50amp. The booster is meant to give you steady service so that you don't experience a voltage drop. For example if it's the middle of August and everyone at the campground has their AC units kick on at the same time it could pull too much from the campground and you and others would experience a voltage drop and surge which could potentially...

  • Can You Use 30-Amp Surge Protector on 50-Amp RV
It is best to match any surge protector to the service of the RV. Such as the 30 Amp Power Watchdog Surge Protector, # HU97FR or the 50 Amp version of, # HU47FR being used with RV's that match their respectively rated services. You can use an adapter such as the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter, # A10-3050D90VP to adapt your RV's 4-prong 50-amp power inlet for use with a 30-amp 3-prong extension cord/Power Pedestal and place the surge protector inline. While yes, this can be made to...

  • Will 50 Amp Watchdog Surge Protector Protect a 30 Amp RV Using Adapter
If you use your 50 amp Watchdog # HU87FR with a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter like the part # CAM55185 your RV would be protected against surges beyond 30 amps up to 50 amps so since your RV is rated for 50 amps this should be fine.

  • Troubleshooting Electric Trailer Jack that Will Not Move Up or Down
It sounds like your electric trailer jack may have a bad battery or a weak ground connection. If the battery is too low, it simply will not have the required amperage to operate the jack but may have enough to power the other functions you mentioned in your question. I recommend testing the battery to see if this is the issue. Next you can check the ground connection for the jack. Most likely, your jack will ground through the mounting hardware, so check to make sure that there is not...

  • Picking The Correct Surge Protector For Your RV
Watchdog surge protectors like the Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth - 50 Amp Item # HU47FR will need to match your camper amperage to properly function. The adapter from 50 amp to 30 amp will go between the surge protector and the power pedestal and you should have no issues. If you need a new 50 amp to 30 amp adapter I recommend the Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter w/ Handles - 125V - 50 Amp Female to 30 Amp Male Item # CAM55185. The built-in handles on the each...

  • Different Adapters To Connect 50 Amp RV Plug Into a 30 Amp Generator Connection
Cord color really has no particular indication for a specific use. Most of the time the color is something specific to that manufacturer. Camco in particular uses mostly yellow on their adapters like Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter # CAM55185. Mighty Grip will offer some Red # A10-3050FHVP and Black # A10-3050FBK adapters. All these do the same as the Camco listed above just a different color for that brand. Since you mentioned connecting to a generator I also recommend verifying the...

  • What Surge Protector Amperage Is Right For My Camper
When it comes to surge protectors you'll also choose one based off of the trailer and not off of the power source. Since you have 50 amp service trailer you'll need the Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth - 50 Amp # HU47FR. You'll connect this to the power cord for your trailer, then connect the adapter to the surge protector, and then the adapter to the shore power. If you don't have the correct adapter or yours is needing to be replaced I recommend using the Camco Power Grip...

  • Best Power Cord for a 2017 Forest River Sandpiper Fifth Wheel
It looks like your 2017 Forest River Sandpiper Fifth Wheel does in fact have a 50 Amp plugins, so both the Mighty Cord Detachable, part # A10-5036EDBK, and the Mighty Cord Power Cord with Handle, part # A10-5025ED, will work for you. I recommend going with the # A10-5025ED since the handle and 90-degree plug reduce wear on the cord and prongs, helping extend the life of the cord. I've linked to a video review of this one. Also, it's a good idea to get a conversion cord like part # CAM55185...

The Power Grip RV Power Cord Adapter w/ Handles # CAM55185 you referenced is for adapter from a 50 amp trailer to 30 amp shore power. Assuming that your trailer has a power cord with a 15 amp male end you would be able to use a 15 amp extension cord like # CAM55142 and then a 15 amp female to 30 amp male adapter plug # A10-3015ARDVP to connect to the shore power pedestal.

These boosters aren't meant to boost up the power to let you use 50amp service on a 30amp source. They are more for handling voltage drops when the campsite's system is being drawn on by too many...

  • Can A Window AC Unit Be Powered In A 50 Amp Service Trailer Connected To 30 Amp Service
If you're only getting 30 amp service then you're just going to to have to figure out how many amps the window unit draws to determine if you can run it along with other items in your trailer. Typical RV rooftop AC units pull quite a bit so you can't run two off of 30 amp service. You could possibly run one and the window unit, but again it really depends on how many amps the window unit pulls so you'll have to refer back to your owner's manual or the manufacturer to determine if this will...

  • Can Champion 4,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator be Used to Charge RV Battery Bank?
Hey Brett! The Champion 4,000-Watt Portable Inverter Generator # CH79FR has a 25A rating for an RV connection so you'll be just fine once you pick up an adapter like the Camco # CAM55185 when it comes to the breaker tripping. As long as you aren't pulling more than 25A of power then you can use just one of them instead of using 2 of them and the ParaLINK Kit # CH84FR.
