Hi there. I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Flair-It PEX 90-degree elbow fitting. This elbow connects your pipes and hoses in your RV's fresh water plumbing system. That 90 degree elbow is going to allow the flow of water to change direction without risking kinking your tubing, or having any obstructions like that. Now, this is going to work whether you're replacing a leaky connection or installing new lines that requires that 90-degree angle.
This will work with your PEX pipes, the old gray PB pipes, as well as the poly vinyl tubing. On the one end here, we are going to have the half-inch FSWV collar that's going to fit tanks or pipes with the half-inch MSWV connection. You can see it does have that swivel connection to help reduce any stress on your hose or pipes. And then on the other end, we're going to have a half-inch barbed connection. So that's gonna fit your hoses and tubes with a half-inch inner diameter.
Having that barbed connection with the compression end is going to allow you to get this installed without having to use any tools. You can just get it all done by hand. So basically the way this is gonna work, you'll take that compression in there, and slide it over your tube or hose, and then you'll take that barbed end, and insert it into your hose. It might take a little bit of pressure and some wiggling back and forth to get that fully inserted, but once it is, you can slide that compression end over, and then thread it down. That's going to create a very tight seal for you.
It's basically expanding your tubes or hoses, and then compressing it back down, so you get a very solid connection there. I actually tried this out myself the other night with a very similar fitting. We had some PEX pipe laying around, and so I put the fitting on there. I was really impressed. I was able to get it installed by hand, but then to get it back off, I actually had to use a couple of vice grips.
So it's a very solid connection. I think you'll be very happy with it. One thing I will advise is that it does take quite a bit of force to get that barbed end into your PEX pipe. So if you're gonna be working in a confined space, in a cabinet, under a sink, something like that, I'd recommend trying to get that fitting on your pipe first before you get into that confined space somewhere where you're gonna have some more elbow room and leverage that you can apply to get that installed. But once it's installed, it is gonna be a very solid connection for you, which, of course, is very important when you're dealing with water. You don't wanna have drips or leaks or anything like that. This is constructed of a polyoxyethylene, so it is very durable and resistant to stress cracking. So it's gonna give you a great performance for a long time to come. And I do wanna point out that this is just one of the many connections that we have available here at etrailer.com, so as you're going through your project, pointing out where you're gonna run your pipes, what kind of connections you're gonna need, I'd encourage you to take a look at those other options as well. Make sure that you're getting everything you need for your project. That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
