Video Transcript for Rear View Safety Backup Camera System Spec Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with the 2 Camera Setup. Now, this two-camera backup system is complete with the 7" LED color monitor, the pedestal mount, a U-bracket mount for the monitor, remote control, has the two-color infrared weatherproof cameras, one power harness, two 66' long camera cable, and then the mounting hardware and a nice instruction manual. Now, we'll start with the monitor itself. The monitor, it's a 7" LED color monitor. It comes with a super sharp digital display and a pixel resolution of 800 x 480. The buttons at the bottom here are backlit, so they will illuminate in the dark.

It does have an auto-dimming feature, which will dim the screen in low light conditions. It does offer distance gridlines that'll come standard with the monitor. It is optional and adjustable, so you can turn them on or off and you can adjust them. It does use a built-in speaker, and its menu can be navigated with the on-dash buttons here or with the included remote. The sunshade on it is removable. If you don't want it on there, you can just pop it right off.

Again, we mentioned the mounts it comes with, the pedestal mounts that you just slide on and then adjust it to whatever position you need, or the U-bracket mount. Now, the backup cameras comes with two of them. These are a sharp CCD color camera. They're built with heavy-duty zinc metal, which will encase the 2 1/2 mm less. They weigh about 22 oz and they are a commercial grade build. It does use a built-in microphone.

These cameras have a viewing angle of 130 degrees and 620 TV lines, which means you'll get the best quality image with no blind spots. It does use infrared lights. There's 18 of them on each camera, allows you to see up to 50 ft even in the darkest of night. They do put a foam around the lens that'll guarantee no glare from the infrared lights. They do beat a IP69K rating.

So this camera will be fit to ride out any storm and it boasts a 20 G vibration rating. Has an adjustable sunshade you can see right up at the top here. It does come equipped with aircraft-grade cable connectors. Now, this system has two viewing options. The camera view can be triggered when the vehicle's put into reverse or you can do it so it'll remain on continuously. With the built-in system memory, this innovative system will automatically save prev option settings even after it's turned off. Last thing I want to do is give you a few dimensions on this. Overall width on the monitor is right at 7". Overall height on it is right at 5 1/4" tall. The total depth, not including the sunshade, is going to be right at about 1" deep. The camera themselves, they are going to measure about 3" wide. Height on those are going to be right at 3 1/4" tall. Overall depth on the camera is about 2". But that should do it for the review on the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System with the 2 Camera Setup.

I bought a two camera setup, works great! One camera on the 5th wheel hitch, and one on the rear of the trailer. The camera on the trailer is setup to be on all the time I am driving. It really helps for backing up, but it is even better on the road. You can see cars coming up on the trailer and see if they are going to pass.

by:

This 2 camera system gives me a full view of the road behind me as well as providing a closeup look at my toad. The backup guide-lines let me drive my 33' Southwind backwards with a trailer without any problem whatsoever.....and I can easily switch between the full-road or close-up modes to check on my trailer/toad when going through dicey road conditions.

Very easy to hook up.....wire your power supply line and plug in the rest.

by:

This system failed after a few months and then neither the manufacturer or etrailer would stand behind the product. This is not a quality product.

Its unfortunate to hear that this item failed for you. I see that our customer service department has found an alternate for you.

Recieved my etrailer order yesterday. Received it very quickly, I ordered two items,

Lots of product options excellent website and fast parts delivery.

Gives be great visibly on both sides and blind spots. Used the rear camera to watch my TOAD.

by:

This is an awesome camera setup. I installed this on a 2012 Chevy Express cargo van. I mounted the camera to the top of the 3rd brake light cover and drilled a 3/4" hole to hold the included rubber grommet for the camera wiring. The wiring was simple, I found a fuse that is tied into the ignition switch and used a fuse tap to supply the minimal amps needed. I wired it so the camera is on whenever the vehicle is running, to act as the rear view mirror since the van has no rear windows. This is a high-quality kit and I am very happy with it.

by:

Everything we have purchased has been great! We are very happy with everything. The Sterling towbar, the rear camera are all working great as we start a new adventure.Thank you!

by:

Still going strong. Great picture quality. I would recommend this if you are looking for and backup camera. Etrailer is a good company to buy from with excellent customer followup on you satisfaction.

  • Recommendation on Dual Camera System for Truck and Travel Trailer
There are options for you to have a dual camera system though there is not one available which will allow you to mount to a license plate and the rear of your trailer. Instead, I recommend using the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup # RVS-770614. The cameras are color with a viewing angle of 130 degrees while also giving you 50 feet of infrared night vision. The monitor is a 7 inch color monitor that has distance grid lines; the system is hardwired in and includes everything...

  • Recommended RVS Backup Camera System with Large Monitor for Easy Viewing
Our range of backup cameras appears on the page I linked for you. These include both wired and wireless systems that come with monitors of varying sizes. The one I often recommend is the Rear View Safety # RVS-770614 which I like because of its 7-inch Digital LED color monitor. This monitor is much easier to use than the fairly small ones found on other systems. When you need to see what's behind you with a quick glance the larger monitor really makes things easier. Plus this is a 2-camera...

  • How are Cameras of Rear View Safety Backup Camera System - 2 Camera Setup Wired
The cameras of the RVS camera kit part # RVS-770614 only need a power and ground wire ran to them and they can be viewed at any time by selecting them from the menu. Or you can also run one of the three trigger wires to a circuit that you'd like to have them come on. Typically people will use turn signals if their cameras are side view cameras, reverse light if for a backup view, or to the running lights so that you can easily flip it on by turning on the vehicle running lights.

  • Can Additional Camera be Added to the Hopkins Smart Hitch System # HM50002
The alarm on the Hopkins Smart Hitch # HM50002 that you currently have can actually be muted via the button on the lower right part of the monitor. I do have some options for you to utilize an extra camera but it will involve adding a new system or swapping out what you have since the Smart Hitch is only compatible with one camera. If you don't want to get rid of the Smart Hitch but you do want to add a camera to your trailer then a great solution for you would be the Rear View Safety...

  • Rearview Safety Backup Camera Kit Recommendation with Quick Disconnects for Use with Trailer
There's actually a version of the Rearview Safety Backup Camera kit part # RVS-770614 that comes with a quick disconnect kit for trailer applications like what you mentioned. For that you'd want the part # RVS-770614-213 instead. I attached a picture of what the quick disconnects look like as well. These allow you to easily disconnect the camera wiring of the trailer from the vehicle.

  • Will Wheel Masters Eagle Vision Tow Mirrors WM6600-2 Fit My 2016 Toyota Highlander?
The Wheel Masters Eagle Vision Universal Towing Mirrors # WM6600-2 are a universal fit so you will be able to install them on your 2016 Toyota Highlander, and they will be a lot more stable that the basic clamp on towing mirrors you tried. Since there are no Custom fit mirrors available for your vehicle I recommend going with the # WM6600-2 as they are the most secure option available. From what I found, your 2018 K-Z Sportsmen Travel Trailer is prewired for a Furrion back up camera system, but unfortunately we currently don't offer anything that would be compatible with the OEM display in your 2020 Ram. The Furrion # FOS05TASF would install using the existing mount on the back outside wall of your travel trailer, as shown in the linked video, and would transmit wirelessly to the 5 inch monitor included with the kit. While there are observation systems that have multiple cameras, there isn't one at this time that has multiple cameras which all sync to a single smartphone or tablet. • What Do V1, V2, and V3 Wires of RVS Camera System Do
Hey Scott, so yeah the instructions for the Rear View Safety Observation System part # RVS-770614 are pretty bad in terms of wiring but the V1, V2, and V3 wires are power wires for the different cameras. The actual power wires that run to the camera are in the 5 pin harness that runs directly to the camera though. The V wires are where the power is drawn from.

Yes, since we have many types of backup and observation camera systems we can help you with a dual-camera model that will give you the kind of visibility you want for both hitching your trailer and safely backing it up. If you prefer a complete stand-alone camera system that includes its own viewing monitor then I suggest the Rear View Safety Backup Camera System # RVS-770614. • Wired Rear View Camera System Recommendation for Rear of Travel Trailer
To alleviate the possiblity of interference a wired camera setup will be your best option like you mentioned. For a single camera version of the kit you mentioned the Rear View Safety Camera kit part # RVS-770613-NM would be a great option. You can use 2 of the Rampage Wireless Backup Cameras # RA7710 on the same smart phone, but in order to accomplish this you would need to close out the app and reconnect to the new camera each time you wanted to switch views. It would be a matter of running the trigger wire to a circuit that has power like the battery of the trailer and then installing a switch there. It's pretty common for RV camera systems to use the running light circuit as the power source for the camera. If the lights at the rear of the RV aren't working and therefore not letting the camera function it's most likely a wiring issue. I wish I could tell you exactly where the problem is but you'd want to trace the wiring from the lights that aren't working to where the wires converge and then look for any cut or exposed wire and fix as needed.
