Parts Needed for Travel Trailer Pre-Wired for Solar

Updated 07/29/2025 | Published 07/15/2025

Question:

I have a travel trailer that is pre-wired for solar. Is GP76qr controller and 34282182 panel the right combination?

Hi Marty; depending on what your solar pre-wiring entails the Go Power PWM Solar Charge Controller # GP76QR and Go Power Overlander Expansion Kit - 200 Watt Solar Panel # 34282182 may be what you need. Do you have a sticker somewhere on the wall inside that is marked for a specific Go Power PWM Solar Charge Controller? It would look similar to the one attached below.

If you have this sticker/template, along with an entry plate like # 34273840 on top of your trailer, then these parts will work. Sometimes if you're pre-wired for solar it only means you have the SAE plug that looks like # GP49QR on the tongue of the trailer. This requires something like the etrailer Portable Solar Panel with PWM Solar Charge Controller # e28VV.

If you're adding a solar panel on the roof you will also want to pick up butyl tape # AL28FJ and some LaSalle Bristol XTRM Universal Self-Leveling Sealant # 34427034145-1 for installation.

Hi Robin, My travel trailer has this same sticker/temlate, I am looking at buying the blue tooth controller. Is the wiring to connect just under the sticker? Is there a problem with connecting my Renogy 100 w portable solar panels to the roof connectors with this controller and do you happen to know if Forest River would have marked the pre-wiring for easy identification? Thank you in advance.

@Shirley the wiring to connect to the # GP76QR is probably directly behind the sticker. It was on mine (that is where the picture comes from) but that is on a Jayco. No guarantees with these companies since sometimes they do strange things but I would expect it to be there. Do you have an entry plate on the roof? It looks like this # 34273840. That is a good indication the cables are there. You can definitely use those panels with this controller. As for the rest of the wiring I can't say for sure how they might have marked it. A lot of the time it depends on who was working the wiring station when they put it together.
