Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the K Source custom extendable towing mirrors, part number KS62137-38G. And these nice mirrors are gonna replace your factory OEM mirrors. It's gonna have a nice durable plastic, textured, black finish. Both driver and passenger mirrors are gonna have a telescoping feature that will extend up to four inches to give you a much greater line of sight. These mirrors are gonna be manually adjusted. However, you have full range of how you move them.
And you're also gonna have a spotting mirror. Again, it's gonna be fully adjustable. What's great about these mirrors is if you're towing a lot, you're not gonna have to worry about taking them off and on like the portable mirrors. They're gonna be more permanent fixture. To start our installation, we're gonna have to remove our door panel. First thing we have to do is remove our door handle. Now, there's a special tool you're gonna have to get, and you can find it at any auto parts store, and it's gonna look like this.
There is a clip on the inside that comes up around it. When you push down, it releases that clip, and you'll slide the handle out. If you do not use that tool, you will take a chance, a very good chance of damaging everything inside of here, so I would suggest spending the couple extra dollars to get it.We can use a little flathead screwdriver. I'm gonna use a pick tool. We're gonna have a small panel here behind your door panel.
Pop that out. And we're gonna have one screw here we need to remove by using a 7mm socket. You're gonna have a cap here you need to remove. You're gonna have two. We're using the same socket.
Then I'm gonna take a magnet to pull that screw out. You don't have one, needle nose pliers will work too, just something to grab it. And we're gonna have two bolts down on the bottom of our panel. Same socket, 7mm. Then we'll take a trim panel tool, and we're just gonna slowly work our way around up to the top.The reason we have to take our door panel off, is this trim piece right here is down underneath it on each side. So we'll start here in the corner, or wherever, and just work your way around. And when we get it loose, what we need to do is this piece right here, we're gonna pull up with it. So if you pull out just a little bit, pull up like that. Make sure you watch out for your locking tab there. And then you're gonna have a wire plug here that goes to your locks. Go ahead and disconnect that, and then we can set this down just like this.Next, we'll just pop out these little push pins here, just work our way around just like that. We'll set this aside, and we're gonna have three nuts that are holding our factory mirror on. We'll be using a 10mm socket for those. Just like that. Now you're gonna notice, this is gonna be your factory mirror. You can see it only has three screws, where your new towing mirror is gonna have four. So these are gonna be our three factory holes. Our fourth hole is gonna be right here. We're gonna start by drilling a pilot hole. I'm gonna use a tap here for a hole punch. Try and get to the center of the hole like that, and we're gonna do our pilot hole first. You just wanna make sure it's small.Next, we're gonna open it up to 3/8". Now because that's open metal, even though it's not really gonna hit the weather at all, just in case any moisture does get in here, I'm gonna take a white paint marker and cover that up.And we'll fit our new mirror into place. Now, it's not gonna come with the nuts to mount it, so we're gonna reuse the same ones, existing ones. Now, we're gonna have a fourth one, so what I did, I just found a nut and a flat washer, and we're gonna put it on there. Just one that'll fit. And that's up to you. I would suggest putting it on to make sure it seals all the way around. Now we can tighten everything up.Now that we have our mirror installed, we can start reinstalling all of our panels in reverse order from the way we took them off. Make sure, before you put all your screws in, or your bolts back in place . you make sure you plug in that connection that works your power locks. Now the clip that we pulled out, or pushed out, you can go ahead and push that all the way back in, make sure you put your plastic ring on, and we're just gonna push our handle back into place like that.Once you get one side done, you're gonna repeat the same process on the other side of the vehicle. And that'll do it for look at and installation on the K Source custom extendable towing mirrors, part number KS62137-38G, on our 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
Ratings & Reviews
Great product, direct replacement, easy install, less than 10 minutes for each side. Fast shipping, fair price. Great buying experience.
Mirrors took about 30 minutes to install and look great. Excellent fit.
Always awesome service.
Installed them and love the additional viewing area. No more little spot mirrors glued to the old mirror anymore. Quick install, looks nice on the F250.
I ordered towing mirrors separately but was contacted by Kathy at etrailer who said they didn't have the driver side in stock but they had a kit with both mirrors and could send me that instead. I agreed and they arrived in just 3 days. The driver mirror wasn't useable and I contacted etrailer about this. They had me send pictures and then sent a label for return shipping. They stayed in contact with me and let me know when the new mirror was shipped and it arrived in a timely manner. Great to work with and attentive!
Very good product! Customer service second to none. I wholeheartedly recomend to anyone to do all their shopping with etrailer.com
Thank You
LOVE-UM. Great, Wonderful, these are by far a great value. I LOVE-UM
As advertised, these mirrors were an exact replacement for the Ford Econoline van mirrors. The hardest part of the whole replacement was the removal and reinstallation of the inner door panels. Fortunately, I had had the doors open once before to replace the speakers so it wasn't quite as painful as it could have been. The Ford door panels are held on with screws and hooks rather than the snap-in fasteners common to most vehicles. Only the small triangular cover at the top immediately inside the mirror mount is held on by a snap-in fastener. The lowest of the mirror mount bolts is behind the main door trim panel and thus the panel needs to be removed...
I'm looking forward to less hassle when towing my camper as far as the mirrors are concerned. Simply pull them out away from the door and I am legal again and can see better what traffic is behind and beside the trailer. Much better than the strap-on contraptions that are easy to break and lose straps from.
Heartily recommended!
I bought these mirrors for my 99 GMC 3500.
They did not fit the hole pattern in the 99 3500 as my truck is a classic style.
That means it is a left over 98.
I put these mirrors on my 02 Chevy 3500 and they fit fine.
Very easy to install on the 02.
The mirrors on the 99 are very hard to get off, as the bolts are in recessed areas.
Love these mirrors! Have had them on the truck now for a year and they work perfect and give you a lot more visibility than the standard short factory mirrors.
No need for aftermarket extensions with these. Plus they slide out if you need even more visibility but we never had to use that alternative yet cause they work great just the way they are.
We tow a tandem axel 7x14 cargo trailer and have plenty of visibility to see backing up and nicely down each side while driving. Much safer in heavy traffic.
Installation was very simple and the mirrors bolted right on with exacting fit.
I would totally recommend these if your needing better visibility over the small OEM mirrors for towing or just daily driving.
I got these mirrors to replace tripod mirrors damaged at a work site. They went on an '05 GMC Sierra 3500 HD with a reading wide truck box. They are plenty wide enough when extended for good visibility around the tool box. Quality seems good, mirrors hold their adjustment well when doors are opened and closed and the mounts are a perfect fit for the factory door mount locations. Two reasons for the four rating instead of five. First, the plastic trim over the mounts does not fit very tightly to the door, especially at the top... making them look like aftermarket mirrors. Second, the angle of the mirrors isn't quite right. Factory mirrors are straight up and down, while these angle in slightly at the top. Big, square mirrors like these should be perfectly vertical in my opinion... but they aren't angled enough to adversely affect their performance.
I would buy these again if they were damaged.
Etrailer's customer service on the other hand... was EXCELLENT. This is the second set of mirrors I purchased from them. These were out of stock, so I bought another slightly smaller pair that I didn't like at all. Etrailer took them back with no problems at all. I ordered these and etrailer kept me informed about the status of my order while I waited for the mirrors to be shipped from the manufacturer, and did not charge my card until they had shipped me my new mirrors. They will get my business in the future.
K source extendable towing mirrors were of quality equal to oem and installation was very simple.
I wish I put them on years ago great vision around my side tool boxes no more blind spots
great mirrors i can see much better now. they bolt right in to factory holes took me mabye ten min to put on. the only down side is the mirror comes out at a upward angle instead of being level which i think is because of the year of the truck not the product mabye make a line of mirrors special to that year but other then that great mirror
Excellent product!
From purchase to product installation And fit, this product and company is top notch. Great communication throughout and Customer Service is amazing as well.
Please note: you DO NOT have to remove door panels to install the manual mirror on the 2500 HD. Pull the top corners of the door panel and remove the small push screw in the upper trim cover on both sides. Pull the upper trim piece off and install the new mirror. Be sure to lip the trim as you go during reinstallation of the trim...then press into place and snap the top corners of the door panel in. This procedure will take about 15 minutes.
Thanks Etrailer!
I love my mirrors thanks etrailer they was simple to put in no hassle at all
The delivery was fast, the quality of these mirrors are great, and the installation was easy. Visibility is MUCH better when using our camper! This product is a no-brainer.
mirrors seem to be well made, easy installation, good price, fast shipping.
Very easy to install and they are larger than the original mirrors which provides better visibility.
I bought tow mirrors a year ago from etrailer.com and I couldn't ask for more they have held up very well and am pleased to recommend them.
These mirrors are great quality very close to OEM . The installation went very well. I did take the door panel off to make it easier to get to the two lower fasteners, just to make sure I didn't loose the nuts inside door. There was very little vibration in the mirrors, I was a little worried about that by reading previous reviews. The mirrors held their positions, folded nicely when parked in tight spots. Everything said this is a great quality product
Great customer service! Free and fast shipping. The glass on the mirrors shake when your on the highway. I don't know of it's all towing mirrors or just these. Easy to install an fit perfect. Overall I'm happy with the product. Thanks e trailer for the great customer service.
I ordered K-Source towing mirrors.. back ordered but eTrailer worked magic..
I did read one line in the instructions, (DON"T DROP A BOLT INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL)
Installation was 20 minutes start to finish with a 10mm deep socket/ratchet and screwdriver.
I did NOT remove door panels, you can bend them back far enough to reach all three bolts. Remove the triangle plug on top of the door that's behind the mounting bolts for the mirrors. Remove three 10mm nuts and swapped mirrors. It could go faster with another set of hands to hold the mirror as you install the bolts.
Note1. Be sure to use the foam piece that comes with the new mirrors, it's a gasket to help make the whole thing fit. I think that's photo number three.
End result, these mirrors do yield to pressure to make them swing back if you're in a tight spot. Road trip is next to see how much they may move.
I'm very impressed with the quality construction, they feel/look top notch. These are OEM factory quality indeed.
Thanks again Samantha G..
