Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Hitch was shipped right away and arrived promptly. Fit just right and install was easy on our 2003 Ford Econoline Cargo Van. Definitely will be buying from etrailer again!

Excellent price and service, shipped on time! Hitch looks great! I was so pleased that I ordered 2 tire/whl. combos yesterday for my boat trailer.

by:

Received the hitch quickly and it's VERY nice, sturdy, well built, I'm looking forward to having it put on my van.
Thanks for the quick shipping.

Good delivery, price, video of installation. Installation was easy as video instructed and product performed well on initial test.

2000 Ford E-250

Product was easy to find on the website, good price, fast delivery and snapped right in. I was just here to find a couple of receiver hitches that will fit Ford E250 vans and the matching wiring harness was recommended on the same page. Much better than my last hack-job trying to wire in trailer lights myself.

I am pleased.

by:
1997 Ford Edge

This is the 3rd hitch and the 5th time I have ordered from etrailer and have been VERY happy with their service. Prompt delivery and the order right the first time. I installed this hitch on a 1997 E-150 van and was pleased to find that the frame already had all holes needed drilled, even though the instructions said I may need to drill the 2 front holes. All together it took about 45 minutes to get everything bolted up and tightened down. The fit is great, my van has the step bumper, so the receiver sets a little back from the bumper edge, but not enough to make it hard to get to. Just enough to not bang your knees on it.

by:
2009 Ford E-250

Hitch came quickly. The supplied directions weren't very helpful but if you follow the video from etrailer, you can get it on in less than an hour. Put in on a Ford E250 cargo van. Spent most my time deciding if the two odd ball bolts should go in the first hole or the last. I choose the last...closer to the center of van...not nearest the rear. Hitch fits like a glove. Can't wait to mount bike rack. Just ordered it yesterday through etrailer.

by:
1997 Ford Van

The hitch mount came the exact day you said it would! I installed it Saturday morning and had my bike rack on it and out on the trail Saturday afternoon.Such an easy install,4 of the bolt holes lined up with my van frame and only 2 were needed to be drilled. Now, no more muddy bikes in the van! Stoked! Many thanks

Bolted right up. Remove charcoal canister, and lower spare and use it to rest the hitch on while you bolt it on.

by:
2012 Ford Van

My son and I installed it with the help of a jack in about 30min. It didn't fit completely flat against the frame but we got all the bolts in and the spare tire wasn't a problem. It is now holding our 6 bike rack well.

by:

Looks good and solid. Installation was almost as fast and easy as it was to unwrap! I used grip clamps to hold it in place on frame while I put the bolts in and drilled the 2 holes needed. Presto done.

by:

I ended up selling the RV and the uninstalled hitch with it. I was impressed with the quality of the hitch in terms of how it was put together and the thickness of the metal. It really had some weight to it which tells me Enoch tells me it’s very strong and sturdy. Next time I know where to go for my hitch needs. Bill

by:

I had my doubts about whether this hitch would fit my RV. I had purchased others previously that the manufacturers said it would fit but did not. However, I installed the Draw-Tite hitch yesterday very easily with the help of my wife in our driveway. I am very relieved that it was successful and fit as indicated. I would recommend etrailer for anyone wishing to find the right hitch for their needs.

by:
1998 Ford Van

The hitch went in like a charm, did not have to do any drilling on the van all the holes was in the right place. The only thing we had to do was add a 1/8 washer to the middle bolt on both sides.
I have installed 5 other hitches from etrailer and this one was the easiest.
Done in less than 1 hour and 2 person.

Fast free shipping, arrived without a scratch. Installed it myself in about 30-minutes. Plus, Joanne was great to work with when I placed my order. Very detailed instructions, but read them carefully before starting. They cover many different years and there are subtle differences in installations. I was delighted that my van did not require any drilling.
2007 Ford Econoline 150

by:

Arrived on day as promised, ends of hitch had broken through shipping box, but all ok. I followed video on how to install and it was a breeze, would have been easier with 2 people but just have to adapt to your situation. Quality looks A1.

by:
2008 Ford Van

I had it installed in about 15 minutes - in my driveway - by myself - with the help of two floor jacks (balances perfectly on the rear bolt holes). I found no need to remove the spare tire. Very easy installation with some options shown in the instructions for various models and years. I watched their installation video before hand, but really, it's about as straight forward as it could be.

My work van is a standard wheelbase 2008, E-250 with factory step bumper. This receiver fits perfectly with all the needed hardware included. Nothing to move out of the way - 6 nuts and bolts, with some spacers and washers and that's it!.

My van has become too loaded to fit a bike inside anymore. So now I'll have no excuse to not bring a bike along on longer service trips.

etrailer: thanks again!

Hey Greg! We have some universal hitches like the Curt item # C47CR that can be made to accommodate 38" wide frames but no I do not have a way of finding a class IV or V hitch with 38" mounting bolts. The hitches are organized by what vehicle they fit. They're not sorted by size. I saw you were looking at hitches for a 1983 Ford van. We do have a custom fit class IV hitch that has 38-1/4" and 38-3/4" mounting holes. It is the Curt item # 14053. I have linked a diagram below so you can...

Michelle, it does not look like Reese makes a trailer hitch for your '97 Ford Van, unfortunately. Instead, I'd suggest going with the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 14053. Curt makes great products so I'm fairly confident this will work just fine in place of the Reese. This hitch has a max weight capacity of 10,000 lbs, a max tongue weight capacity of 1,000 lbs, and is custom fit to your vehicle so it will bolt right up.

I have attached the full dimensions below so you can compare those to what you have on your frame to see if it will fit.
