Received the item fast.very high-qualit y!

Awesome fit

by:

Just had to open up 3 of the
holes
to get it to bolt up. Other than that it looks and fits good.

by:

Hitch came as expected. Very good quality product.

by:

very tight fit and I had to clean up the treads on vehicle. Very happy with end result.

by:

I already responded through an email, the hitch appears to be undamaged, it was lose in the box and punched 2 roughly 3" x 4" holes in the side of the box, the bolt kit is missing, my guess it went out through one of the holes! The Curt Wiring harness blister pack was pulverized by the 35 lb hitch and it's contents scattered all over the inside of the hitch package, I'm still checking to see if anything is missing or damaged, It looks like it went through a cement mixer! The tube of RTV sealant is now spread over the hitch and dried! The Curt Harness really should have been in a more substantial box, then placed in the hitch box for shipment! A blister pack will not survive floating around with a 35 lb hunk of iron! Other wise I'm satisfied It appears to be a very well built hitch!

by:

Perfect fit. No fuss! No muss!

by:

Very fast shipping, great customer service. I haven't installed it yet but I don't foresee any problem

The hitch was a perfect fit. I was installing on a 11 year old northern vehicle and I had debris and rust in the threads of the factory nuts on the frame. I found a helpful installation video on the etrailer website that recommended cleaning them out with a wire brush and if that is enough, good. I did that and that was not enough, I rushed things and tried to force the bolts in and wrecked a couple of them. I should have taken the time to run a tap through them to clean them out. Not etrailer's fault, but it would be a great idea to put that in the recommendations/instructions - it might have saved me having to weld things up now to make sure it is solid. If the factory weld nuts are clean you can install this thing in like 10-15 minutes. They sell a great product, would buy from them again.

I was able to install the new eTrailer hitch with the brackets on each side of my vehicle by removing the spare tire, my wife assisted and we had to pull the muffler to the side using a pry bar to get this eTrailer hitch receiver into the mounting spot on the under into vehicles sub frame mounting area. Once in place i used a tool box to prop the hitch and keep it lined up with the pre drilled and tapped towing hitch holes for the Mazda and that’s where my problem existed. The first 2 large M12 1.25 bolt holes on each side of each bracket on my vehicle were brand new never used and I cleaned the threads with some penetrating oil. Then I used a RYOBI 18V ratchet to start threads on my M12 bolts and this worked well for the lag bolts then I used a torque wrench set to the 86 ft lbs while I used the smaller M8 bolt just using my RYOBI ratchet because it tops out at 20 ft lbs after all holes were lined up on the bracket with the mounting sub frame on the vehicle to keep the bracket in place. I began to torque specs on 4 of the 6 lag bolts but, not the back lag bolt on each bracket while I used an extension socket to install these because of the space constraint I ended up needing to use an impact ratchet to continue torque. While I couldn’t literally turn the torque wrench any further under the vehicle everything ended up flush for the lag bolts before it torqued to 86 ft lbs. But, those back lag bolts one on each side of each corner toward the outer bumper had either been used for a bike rack or just a lot of rust but, I could only get the threads to torque on the back of each bracket to 50 ft lbs. and the bolt seems stuck in as all looks flush and is for the towing hitch mounted flat against the sub frame. I’m now seeking a welder in my area to complete the install by tac welding the 1 bolt in the back of the each sides bracket to reassure the trailer hitch is mounted in place more secure. Also looking to have a weld added to the bracket for more strength and still include using the bolts. A weld with the existing 2 lag bolts that were each torqued to the 86 ft lbs on each bracket with the stuck bolt in at 50 lbs on each side should be more than enough to tow up to the 3600 lbs limit. Pictures show the eTrailer installed and flush mounted bolts onto the subframe and it’s really strong but, to reassure I’m looking to get an extra weld added to complete the deal before I tow anything.

This was a perfect fit, and fairly easy installation. It took about 30 minutes to get on, with getting the bolts tight enough in the tight spaces. My only complaint would be that I wish the bolts were about half the length to reduce the wrench turning. It looks great and is very sturdy. I had been putting off getting a trailer hitch for a while, now I regret not getting it sooner. Thank you for the easy shopping experience, quick shipping, and great prices.

  • Is it Important to Use all of the Installation Bolts When Installing a Curt Hitch
It is VERY important that you use all of the included installation hardware when you install the Curt Hitch # 13575 on your vehicle. If the bolts are not wanting to line up I would recommend you loosen all of the installation bolts so that the hitch can be moved around and positioned so that the bolts line up and you can thread the smaller bolts in as well. Once you have all of the bolts started you can begin to tighten them all down to the specified torque rating in the installation...

  • Troubleshooting Hitch Bolts that Don't Want to Line Up Properly
Sometimes in shipping the install brackets of a hitch can get slightly bent. As long as there are no flex marks on the hitch or chipped paint from the hitch flexing you can bend the hitch back to get it to line up. Otherwise it can be helpful to start with all of the install bolts loose so that you can first get them all started. Once they are all started you can then torque them down to spec.

  • Trunk Rack or Hitch Rack for 3 Mountain Bikes on 2012 Mazda CX-9
As long as each of your mountain bikes weighs under 35 pounds, a trunk mounted rack is physically capable of safely supporting them for travel. With that being said it's not going to be a particularly enjoyable experience. Loading similarly sized bikes onto a hanging-style trunk rack can be somewhat difficult, as the cradle spacing typically isn't ideal to easily prevent bike-to-bike contact, and I have a feeling the two boys' mountain bikes will each require a separate adapter bar like...

I checked the dimensions on the Thule T2 Platform-Style 2 Bike Carrier, part # TH9045, and found that the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the bike rack when folded up is 3-1/2 inches. • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Mazda CX-9
The trailer hitch that I recommend for a 2015 Mazda CX-9 is the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13575 which offers a custom bolt-on fit with no cutting or drilling required. It will be very easy to install taking most only around 30 minutes with just basic hand tools. It has a class III rating with larger 2" receiver tube opening so it can be used for towing, bike racks, cargo carrier, etc. I have attached an install photo below.

  • Difference Between Curt and Draw-Tite Trailer Hitches for 2012 Mazda CX-9
Other than the difference in brand/manufacturer, the Curt # 13575 and the Draw-Tite # 75531 for your Mazda CX-9 are pretty close to identical. Between the two options I do recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13575 because the hitch itself is made in the USA and their powder coat seems to last a lot longer. Other than that the Curt hitch does feature a square crosstube as opposed to the round tube design on the Draw-Tite, but this is just an aesthetic difference and doesn't affect performance/reliability...

  • Tip for Getting Last Bolt Started When Installing Hitch and Holes Don't Seem to Line Up
Here's what you'll need to do. Loosen all of the 7 bolts you have threaded currently to the point the hitch can move around a bit yet all of the bolts are still started. Now move the hitch around so that the last bolt hole can be started. Once you get all of the bolts started then you can torque them all down.

  • Which Trailer Hitch Is Recommended For 2008 Mazda CX 9
The Draw-Tite and Curt are top quality hitches as far as strength. As far as fitment on the vehicles, most manufacturers today try to make the hitch as least unobtrusive as possible when designing around the vehicle design. When we recommend hitches we usually try to take into consideration how it looks on the vehicle. Like the hitch does not hang too low or that it does not stick too far out from the rear fascia. Also if the installation is easy to do or if it requires modifications. On...

  • Will Curt Trailer Hitch from 2009 Mazda CX-9 Fit 2019 Mazda CX-9

The Curt Class III Hitch # 13575 you currently have installed on your 2009 CX-9 is only compatible with this vehicle up through the 2015 model year. Based on my research it looks like the CX-9 went through a generational change for the 2016 model year and there were enough differences to the rear of the vehicle that a new hitch fitment was needed. Since you have attempted to use the brush and lubricant process and have not been successful you will need to get a tap to clean it out.
