Question:

Im trying to find out if my vehicle has standard tow prep package so I can tow the listed 3 500 lbs. I called the manufacturer and they say it does not come as standard. But looking through your feeds and other forums they say yes. Im trying to confirm this. Thanks

According to my research the 2012 Mazda CX-9 comes in various versions that have different towing capacities. For example, the 4-door Sport with 3.7L V6 and all-wheel-drive 6-speed transmission has a maximum tow rating of 3500-lbs, while other versions including the Touring 4-door are limited to 2000-lbs.

The best way to determine your towing capacity would be to check the owners manual of your vehicle or contact a Mazda dealer with your VIN and they should be able to tell you the options of your vehicle as well as the towing capacities.

The Curt hitch part # 13575 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your vehicle so it would be a great option for towing.

Also you will have to purchase the ballmount (Curt Ball Mount, # C45010,) a 2 inch hitch ball (Tow Ready Balls, # 63845,) or 1-7/8 inch hitch ball (Tow Ready Balls, # 19260,) pin and clip (Hidden Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3,) separately.

The wiring harness needed would be Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring, # 118520.
