Today we're going to be taking a look at the panel lock slam latch with the included cover. A slam latch is ideal for doors, drawers, truck and trailer bodies, construction and farm equipment and all aircraft applications. Slam latches are very versatile and again can be used on a variety of applications. The latch does offer nice, secure and easy closure. The square shape of the spring matches the pin perfectly, you got seamless operation right there. It's going to come with a cover, goes over the spring and offers protection to the spring and a clean finished look for the latch itself.
The unit's made from a steel construction. It's going to feature a really nice zinc plating, it's going to do a great job at resisting rust and corrosion and lasting a long time. The rubber handle on this end of the pin is secured on there with adhesive, that prevents the grip from slipping off and that grip just offers a nice, easy grip design for the handle of the pin. Taking a measurement real quick, we're going to measure the body first. This body is going to give us a measurement of two inches by one and 5/8 of an inch. Then from the mounting surface to the top of the body, that's a thickness or height of about 13/16 of an inch.
The pin from edge to edge measured 3 and 3/4 of an inch long and it's a square design measuring 7/16 by 7/16 of an inch. The extension, that's how far it extends out past the body, furthest out point measures 3/4 of an inch. The mount holes on this unit side to side this direction, those are separated on center by an inch and a quarter. Going this direction, they're separated by one and 1/8 and the diameter for each one of those holes is 3/16 of an inch. Mounting hardware not included.

It’s been a year after I installed the lock and it has been preforming flawlessly. I have wiped the bolt a couple times with silicone which aids the ease of closure. Great lock.
