Does The etrailer Clamp On Bucket Hitch Receiver Come With Ball To Move Trailers Around?

Updated 02/05/2026 | Published 02/03/2026

Question:

I see this has a 2inch receiver. Does that mean it comes with a hitch ball, or do I need to add one separately?

Good question, Mark - this trips a lot of folks up. The 2 inch measurement refers to the square receiver's opening on the bucket receiver # e75ZV, meaning it accepts any standard 2 inch shank ball mount, just like a truck hitch. The actual hitch ball and ball mount isn’t included, since ball size depends on your trailer’s coupler 2, 2-5/16, etc. and most people already have one that they use to tow with.

If you’re moving different trailers around the farm or jobsite, a really handy pairing is the etrailer adjustable ball mount # e66PR, which fits this receiver and includes both 2 inch and 2-5/16 inch balls. That way you’re covered without swapping hardware.

What kinds of trailers are you planning to move with it?

Got it, that makes sense. I’ve got a couple utility trailers with different couplers, so that adjustable ball mount sounds like the way to go. Appreciate the clarification.

@Mark Glad that helped, Mark. The adjustable ball mount really does make life easier when you’ve got multiple trailers in the mix. You can just remove it from the bucket attachment and throw it on your truck when ready to tow! If you run into anything odd with one of those trailers, feel free to circle back and let us know.
