  You are correct. The Reese Goose Boxes, including # RP94716-61301, adjust vertically where they mount to the trailer only. There is no other height adjustment on it. With a gooseneck hitch height isn't normally an issue unless the hitch is in a flatbed truck or a lifted truck which would be taller than a regular stock pickup truck.   If your Ram has the factory tow/ prep package, it'll have pucks in the truck bed as shown in the provided photo. If you have the prep package, you can use the Reese # RP30140 gooseneck ball. The # RP30137 kit you mentioned is for the Ford tow/prep package, and wouldn't work for your truck. If you don't have the tow/prep package, you can use the Draw-Tite # 9467. If you don't already have a 7-way trailer connector installed in your truck bed, you can install one using part # 41157.

  The ball in the Hide-A-Goose gooseneck trailer hitch # 9467 for your 2014 Ram 2500 has little ball bearing tabs on the shank. I included a picture pointing these out. There is also a black lever on top of the ball. Opening and closing the lever will cause the ball bearings to either stick out or recess into the ball.
