Video Transcript for Review of Onan Cummins Generators - No Inverter - CM57RR

Hi everyone, Steve here with etrailer.com. Today we're looking at this Cummins Onan QG 7000 EFI gas RV generator with 7,000 kilowatts of power and it has 120 volt single phase EVAP option and it's CARB compliant. Now folks, this should be a routine direct replacement. You can go ahead and use the dimensions and everything that I put on the screen for you today, but make sure that your kilowatts, the 7,000 is gonna match or exceed what your needs are in your RV or trailer or camper. Now this should be a direct replacement. You have some wires to hook up, and in this case you have the gas hookup as well.

Now, this should install where that old worn out Onan generator probably is right now after many, many years of great use. It's finally kaputs. Here's a great upgrade. This guy has a lot of newer things on it that the old one probably just didn't have. Now starting off, it's gonna have that CARB compliance that we we inchesre talking about, and you have a sticker here, right there that certifies that.

It also has the built-in EFI and the wire harnesses for remote starting and the power wires and everything as well. Now, this also has soundproofing. It's got an enclosed muffler on this end, you're gonna have quieter days, quieter nights, and the sound level meets the National Park Service requirements of that 60 decibels at 50 feet. The muffler also is a spark arrester muffler. It's been USDA approved, so that's safe for National Force and campgrounds as well.

So you don't worry about doing mods or anything. Right here on the front, you have an access panel. Simply give it a little tug, pull it up and out, and now you can access everything for maintenance. As you can see, it's got the sound dampening insulation right here on the front cover. From here, you can access your oil, your hookups and everything.

They're gonna come out the side here. And then you got your power and ground. And then of course, your two 30 amp circuit breakers and your on off start button. And of course you got your air filter right here in the middle as well. Now, there's four bolts that hold this on, two on this side and two on the other. I went ahead and removed them. So let's go ahead and get this case off. We can take a better look inside together. Now, like I mentioned before, now we can see everything inside a little better. Over here you got your gas return and inlet, you got your power wires here, and those again would route out from the generator. And again, you have this wire harness. This should clip in right to the wire harness you already have on board that yours was plugged into. And then of course in the line fuse and another little connector right here. Again, along with all your circuit breakers and everything on the front. Coming from the top down, give you a little different view from everything up here as well. Now, we already mentioned about it being quiet. It also does use a four point vibration oscillation system, so you can kind of see there's some springs and stuff on all four corners. That's gonna help dampen everything along with the muffler having its own spring system as well, to keep everything quiet as well. As far as routine oil changes and everything, you shouldn't have to have much help at all with that. It's as simple as having a few basic tools and swapping out the oil and the air filter as needed per the maintenance in your instruction handbook and possibly the air filter as well. This does have built-in self-diagnostic capabilities, so troubleshooting should be a breeze. And it also has automatic shutoff safeties inside as well. So let's say you had low oil, maybe the system that overloaded or something like that. This thing's gonna shut itself down, preserve itself, you won't have to worry about it killing itself or you know, breaking anything permanently. So a very nice unit. As always, if you have questions about this unit or anything here at etrailer.com, reach out to us. We're here to help you. And if you don't wanna install this yourself because of the weight or just don't know how to, you can also use our dealer locator tool at etrailer.com and we can assist finding someone in your area to help you with the install as well. I'm Steven, thanks for watching.
