Will the Bright Way Deep Cycle 250 Hour Battery Replace Two 100 Hour GPL-27T 12V Lifetime Batteries?

Updated 11/03/2025 | Published 10/26/2025

Question:

We have two GPL-27T 12V 100AMP LifeTime batteries. Will this battery replace both we would only need one? Weve had these for 7 years and had no problems till we started seeing some issues with voltage being low when we are putting down or putting up our landing gear. And, is there a battery box that can be purchased to hold the new battery. We have a 2019 GD Solitude RES-R. Thanks so much for your time.

It sure will Frank. The Bright Way Deep Cycle RV Battery item # BRW64FR is going to replace both of your GPL-27T 12V 100AMP LifeTime batteries and give you a bit extra.

The Bright Way Deep Cycle RV Battery item # BRW64FR is a 250 amp hour battery. It's a 12v AGM battery that measures 20-1/2" long x 10-1/2" wide x 8-3/4" tall. It weighs 156.2 lbs.

For a battery box, I recommend the Commercial Grade Battery Box for Group 8D Batteries item # 329-HM484. This box measures 24-7/16" long x 15-7/16" wide x 12-5/16" tall and has internal dimensions of 21" long x 11-13/16" wide x 10-5/16" tall. It has a ventilated lid, 8 cable ports, and internal bumpers to prevent shifting and jolting.

If you have any additional questions, go ahead and click on the box that says Reply to Jerred H and I'll be happy to answer them.

Jerred, Thank you so much for the quick and informative response! I appreciate all of your assistance. Frank P.S. I'm debating upgrading to Lithium, but will need to change out our WFCO 9855 converter/charger.

@FrankT You're welcome! Thanks for all the information! Now is definitely the time to do it! To replace your WFCO WF-9855AD converter/charger, you'll want the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger item # PD79RR. We don't have one that actually mounts inside the control panel that would a replacement section type upgrade. I've never actually seen one that does that. The Progressive Dynamics item # PD79RR is rated at 60 amps and is compatible with flooded lead acid, AGM, and LiFePO4 batteries. We don't have a 250 amp hour lithium battery but we do have a 200 amp hour item # RS84VR or a 300 amp hour item # GP26QR. What you'll give up in the extra cost upfront, converting to lithium, you will definitely recover on the backend. Lithium batteries charge faster and last a lot longer. They also weigh about half as much. Do you do any boondocking/off grid camping? Lithium batteries are great for it because you can run them completely out without damaging the battery.

@JerredH I appreciate your response and suggestions. We have not been off grid more that the 5 hours when we sat on the side of an Interstate in VA after our truck broke down waiting for a tow vehicle ... At this time, I will have to give some thought to the additional costs.
