Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at the Taylor Made Marine 20-inch long steel gas strut for boat hatches. Now this gas strut here is designed to replace a worn out or a damaged strut that's on your boat's hatch lid or compartment door. This extends to ease lifting your hatch lid and it'll compress to gently close the hatch without slamming. It is a heat treated steel construction, very durable. Has a nice corrosion resistant coating on it so it doesn't rust, even in salt water areas.
And if you look on the ends, it is a ball and socket installation. Basically, you just attached us to the ball studs that are on the inside of your boat's hatch. The connection type is a 10 millimeter ball socket on both ends. It easily installs in minutes. There's no special tools required.
Now, when you do install this, you do want the inner rod facing down. And it is recommended to replace gas shocks in pairs. Total length on this, if we measure from the center of the ball socket to the center of this ball socket, it's gonna be 20 inches. The compression force of this strut is 70 pounds, and again, it is for a quantity of one strut. But that's gonna do it for a look at this Taylor Made Marine 20-inch long steel gas strut for boat hatches.
