Question:

Have a Nitro Z7 single axel trailer. Looking at getting Dexter Vault Hybrid Lubrication Kit, but how do I determine trailer weight 4500lb or 5500lb ect.?? No Tags.

Hey Brian, thanks for reaching out. We should have a Dexter Vault kit for you, but not knowing the axle capacity makes it tricky since the caps that come with the kits are sized based on the axle capacity. If there is no axle tag, there are other ways we can narrow down what you need.

For the vault kits, if you can remove a grease cap and measure the OD, that will tell us what kit you'll need. For example, the 3,500 lb kit part # DX52UR has caps with a 1.98" OD.

Another way to narrow things down is with the casting number from your hub. Brake drums should have a casting number right on the front, and idler hubs have a number cast on the back. Usually, we can use that to pull up your axle/hub info. If you can't make out the casting number, you could always contact a dealership with the VIN and they should be able to tell you the axle capacity.

The diameter of the axle tube can help narrow things down, but it doesn't always tell us the exact capacity.

Since it's a single axle trailer, the axle is likely a 3,500 lb but we'll want to be sure before you order anything.
