What Bearing Kit and Replacement Parts for My Dexter Vault do I Need for 3,500 Axle Skeeter Boat?

Updated 07/17/2026 | Published 07/14/2026

Question:

I recently purchase a used 2015 Skeeter FX20 bassboat. I have no Idea when when the trailer has had the bearings service/replaced. I would like to do a complete replacement of bearings, races, grease, etc. I have been able to determine the needed bearings 84 spindle bearings. My question is what else do I need to repace for the Vault system to get it back to factory fresh? VIN No.1L8FHENK8FA020539

Hello Keith,

Congrats on the Skeeter!

For your #84 spindle, you'll want the Hub Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with #84 Spindle # BK2-100. If you don't mind spending a little more on higher-quality bearings, I'd go with the Timken Bearing Kit for Lippert, Dexter, and AL-KO Axles - 3,500 lb with # TMK52VR.

Since you're already going to have everything apart, including the races, if you don't have a tool like the 7-Piece Installation Set for Bearings, Races, and Seals # PTW83020, I strongly recommend grabbing one. It makes the job go a whole lot smoother.

As for the Vault system, if your goal is just to freshen it up and get it back to factory fresh, here's what you'll need:

(2) O-Ring for Dexter Vault Hybrid Lubrication System - 1.98" Cap # DX79VC
(1) Dexter Hybrid Oil for The Vault Bearing Protectors # DX94TR
(1) Replacement Dexter Vault Bearing Protector Installation Tool # DX44FT
(1) Loctite 271 Red High-Strength Threadlocker - 6 mL Bottle # LOC77FR

Now, if it were mine and I already had everything apart, I'd probably just replace the whole Vault assembly. The Dexter Vault Hybrid Lubrication System for 2,500-lb to 3,500-lb Trailer Buddy Axles # DX52UR comes with the new Vault assembly, the installation tool, and the hybrid lubricant, so it's basically everything you need in one box.

Where are you located, and what body of water do you mainly fish on? I have an 04' Ranger. I dabble in some local bass tournaments at Lake of the Ozarks, but mainly Mark Twain Lake in the summer due to the massive boats on Lake of the Ozarks, the wakes are just too big! Still chasing that double digit though!
