Video Transcript for Feature Review Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit. This wiring kit allows you to get the signal lights needed for flat towing without tapping into your towed vehicle's electrical system. It provides brake signal, running, and signal lights, and it runs beneath the vehicle completely and connects to your RV so it bypasses the towed vehicle's electrical system all the way. The bulbs and sockets are going to mount inside your vehicle's tail lights. To get these mounted in the tail lights you will need to use a 1" diameter hole saw, that's indicated in the included instructions. It does come with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through the entire process step-by-step. Everything here on the table is what you're going to get.

You're going to get two lights, two sockets, you're going to get your bundle of wiring, this is your main wiring harness. It's going to measure around 26' long. You're going to get a couple extra extension wires for the installation back at the tail light assemblies. You're going to get your ground screws, your butt connectors, and you're going to get your ring terminals. The product's also fully made in the USA, and again, it does come with detailed installation instructions to help walk you through that entire process step-by-step. These bulbs are going to sit in a really nice, it's like a J-socket ...

So you can push those down and release them as needed. It's going to use bulb number 2357. That's going to do it for today's look at the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit.

Nice product. Small bright LED’s that fit into tail lite assembly without drilling a massive hole like some others. Would have given 5 * except seems pricey for what you get.

Looks ok, expensive for what you actually get.

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2001 Ford Sport Trac Automatic Behind a Winnebago Adventurer
We have everything you need to flat tow your 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac behind your Winnebago Adventurer, but before attempting to tow I strongly recommend checking your owners manual before proceeding. From what I could find, the 4WD models with the electronic shift transfer case and automatic transmission cannot be flat towed. Ford also has distance and speed restrictions when flat towing this vehicle. To flat tow your 2001 Ford Sport Trac Automatic behind your Winnebago Adventurer...

  • How to Install the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler
In order to install the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit part # BX8869 in the back of the taillight housing on your 2017 Jeep Wrangler you will need at least 1" of space in order for the bulb and socket kit to work. I did some research and looked at a few of the taillight assemblies for your Jeep and believe you should have absolutely no problem using this kit. 1) Starting in the engine compartment of the towed vehicle, run the 26 ft. harness through the fire wall, under the driver's side...

Yes, the etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit # e98966 for your 2017 GMC Canyon is compatible with a Blue Ox tow bar like the Avail # BX7420. Just be sure if you are using a different tow bar that it still has the Blue Ox style ends on the bars. Do note if you use a supplemental braking system and physically disconnect...

Manufacturers do not really give a set amount of time that it takes to install a base plate kit on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler because there a lot of variables involved when installing a base plate. I have asked our installers how long it normally takes to install a base plate on a 2007 Jeep Wrangler. They say it normally takes about 4-6 hours for the base plate and tow bar wiring kit. However, the bulb and socket kits like part # BX8869 are not a confirmed fit for the Jeep Wranglers because...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Behind a Motor Home
To flat tow your 1989 Jeep Cherokee behind a motor home you will need base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For base plates I recommend the Blue Ox model # BX1110 for a couple of reasons. First, generally speaking the Blue Ox models are easier to install compared to other models. And second, using the Blue Ox base plates with a compatible tow bar will allow you to use one of the more inexpensive braking systems. For a tow bar I recommend the Alpha,...
