You will need to check with the manufacturer and/or your vehicle owners manual for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your 1997 Chevrolet Blazer because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.

If your Blazer can be flat towed you will need a tow bar, base plates, safety cables, wiring for lights, and a supplemental braking system as required by law.

The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX1638, are the base plates for the 1997 Chevrolet Blazer 2WD and the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, part # BX1616, is for the 4WD Blazer.

These base plates will work with the Blue Ox Adventurer, Aventa, Aladdin, Alpha and Allure tow bars. I am including a link to a page that will list the different Blue Ox tow bars that you can use.

The safety cables would be the Blue Ox Safety Cables, part # BX88196. The wiring you will need for lighting on the towed vehicle is the Blue Ox Tail Light Wiring Kit, part # BX8869.

The supplemental braking system you can use in the towed vehicle would be the Blue Ox Patriot RF Braking System, part # BRK2010. This braking system will apply the brakes in your towed vehicle at the same rate that you apply them in your RV.
