Video Transcript for Review of Demco Fifth Wheel Installation Kit - Universal 5th Wheel Install Kit - DM8552009-71

Hello neighbors. Welcome back. I'm Steven here at etrailer.com. Today we're taking a look together at our Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and the Universal Mounting Kit for your Fifth Wheel Hitches. Now folks, this installation kit will let you mount your Demco Premier Series Fifth Wheel Trailer hitch in the bed of your truck, but it also works with B&W, Curt, Draw-Tite, Hidden Hitch, Husky and Reese Fifth Wheels as well, and the valley above-bed fifth wheel trailer hitches. Now folks, the mounting brackets, these L-shaped brackets here, they are gonna install beneath the bed of your truck.

They're gonna provide a nice attachment point for the above-bed base rail themselves. Now you will get all the included hardware that you see before you. There's lots of spacer blocks here, some other spacer blocks, the nuts, bolt, lock washers, and you even get this fish wire guy. And if you've never seen one of these, they're pretty nifty. Basically, you will route this through the frame and you would simply thread on a bolt to it just like so.

So that guy's hanging on there, he is not going nowhere. You would unwind this. I'm gonna leave it coiled up now just 'cause they're kind of hard to get back together. But you would fish it through, I don't know, let's say there's a hole in the frame. You'd fish that wire through and then you'd be able to pull that bolt through the hole up and through from even, I wanna say, at least two feet away sometimes.

So pretty impressive the way this fish wire works and you just simply unscrew the bolt to get the fish wire back off. So again, pretty simple operation. Everything here is a nice sturdy, sturdy black powder coated steel finish. It's gonna reduce rust, corrosion, that kind of stuff. And again, you're gonna get two base rails, all the bracketry and hardware included, along with that fish wire as well.

Everything's made here in the USA and it has an amazing five year limited warranty. Well, folks, there's not much more to say about this other than to kind of show you these base rails. If you've ever installed these, you kind of know already what they are. If you haven't, pretty simple. All these rectangular slots in here, those are where the legs of your fifth wheel will put in. And then these side holes here, you would put through like a pin to hold that fifth wheel leg into place on the rails. So keep in mind with base rails, these rails are flat in the bed of your truck, but they are raised a little bit. So it kind of has that same hat channel shape that you see in a lot of beds on trucks. You will have that same rail in the bed of your truck. So just keep that in mind as far as space, height, that kind of stuff. If this kind of kit's not what you're looking for, maybe you want a more sleek, hidden, we do also make those kits and sell them as well. So those are available at etrailer.com as well. Those would be what's called an underbed or a hidden fifth wheel install kit. Well, folks, that's gonna do it for our look today at this Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rail Kit. I'm Steven with etrailer.com. Thank you so much for your time today. Use our fit guide etrailer.com. Enter the year, make, and model. Make sure you're getting the right parts for your vehicle. The product, bed rails and kit for 5th wheel hitch were good quality and installed easily enough, but the product was shipped in cardboard and it was heavy and broke through the box and some of the nuts and bolts were missing. Box arrived with big holes in each end. etrailer was good and shipped the missing parts but it cost me several days delay and unnecessary hassle. They just need to figure out how to ship without the box breaking up. Good product, good customer service, not so good shipping.

Made installing my Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel kit a snap! These rails are sturdy and well-made and will probably outlast the truck (which is still going strong at nearly 300,000 miles). I can tow my Bigfoot 5th wheel with ease and confidence.

There was an issue with the address on our debit card so payment in our order didn’t complete, we received a personal email (not just one of those automated ones) regarding the matter, when i called to correct the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our package came right on time for instal!

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit Recommendation for a 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 Long Bed
Either of the rail kits you referenced would work well in your 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 with an 8 foot bed. You should note that while these rail kits are listed as custom fit kits they will install more like a universal one as the L-brackets are the same as the universal kits. Because of that I would go with the Reese universal rail kit part # RP30035 as it has the best price and would work well with your Curt hitch. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • 5th Wheel Bed Rail Installation on 2002 Toyota Tundra SR5 with 6 Foot Bed
For the Reese Universal Base Rails and Installation Kit # RP30035, doesn't have a fit for your 2002 Toyota Tundra 6 foot bed so I can't give you the installation measurements. The universal rail kits similar to this like the # DM8552009-71 simply have you put the hitch and rails in your truck and place the center of the hitch directly over the axle to up to 3” ahead of it, and it must be centered side to side in the box of the truck. then they have you drill the 4 holes through the...

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 5-1/2 ft Bed
For your truck bed that is 5-1/2 feet long there is only one slider hitch that would have enough clearance to allow you to make tight turns. For that you would need the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550040. This will automatically slide back 22-1/2 inches and would work well. For rails you would need the custom install kit part # DM8552009-71. This is a custom install kit that minimizes drilling and install time over universal kit.

  • Where To Install Rails In Truck Bed Of A 1996 Dodge Ram Short Bed
Hello Avis. When installing fifth wheel rails in the bed of a 1996 Ram short bed, the rails will be installed so that the fifth wheel hitch head is centered over the rear axle. It is recommended that the King pin be centered over the rear axle, or it can be up to 3" ahead towards the cab of the truck. I have included a screenshot from the instructions to illustrate this. I have also included links below with the instructions for the B&W Rail Kit # BWRVR3200 and the Demco Rail Kit # DM8552009-71...

  • 5th Wheel Base Rail Installation Kit for 2002 Toyota Tundra Limited 4x4
We can help you with a 5th wheel installation kit to let you mount the 5th wheel hitch of your preference. For your Tundra I recommend the industry-standard Demco universal base rail kit # DM8552009-71 because this kit includes all the under-bed hardware and brackets needed to install a 5th wheel hitch. Install instructions are linked. Custom-fit installation kits are not presently available for your truck. Also a helpful article is linked to assist you with your installation.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2001 Dodge Ram Short Bed
For short bed trucks like yours you will need a slider hitch to allow your truck and trailer the clearance needed for sharp corners. My favorite hitch to recommend for this is the Demco Hijacker part # DM8550034 because it will automatically move itself back whenever you get into a tight turn. This prevents the hassle of getting out and operating the slider. For a fifth wheel rail kit confirmed to fit your 2001 Dodge Ram you would want the part # DM8552009-71. Timbren suspension kits...

The correct replacement installation hardware and bracket kit for your Reese 10 bolt rails is the part # RP30439. This kit is intended for the Universal Base Rails # RP30035. With this in mind, the Reese Universal Base Rail - 10 Bolt Kit is actually not confirmed to fit your 1995 Toyota T100. For 5th Wheel Base Rails that are confirmed to fit, I instead recommend looking at the Demco Rails # DM8552009-71. If your customer is wanting to get by with the best priced fifth wheel hitch setup for his 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5-1/2 foot bed we can help but due to the incredibly short bed length he has he's going to have to use special slider hitch. There's only one slider hitch that has a far enough range for as short of a bed as his truck and its the Demco Hijacker 13k part # DM8550040 that can slide 22-1/2 inches. For a rail kit you then would want the part # DM8552009-71 which is confirmed...

To add a set of 5th wheel rails to your 2005 Toyota Tundra you will need the Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Universal Install Kit item # DM8552009-71. This kit is confirmed to fit the 6' bed model of the 2005 Tundra. This is a universal installation kit so there will be some drilling required. • Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch For 1997 Dodge Ram 2500 With Truck Bed Toolbox
You can put a sliding fifth wheel hitch in your 1997 Dodge 2500 and that would give you additional clearance behind the cab. The concern I have is the clearance above the bed rails with your tool box and fuel pump. I have attached a drawing that shows how much clearance is needed above the bed rails when towing. For your 2007 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Demco has two styles of rail kits available. There an underbed version and an above bed version which is much more popular and most likely what you have. The kit you'd have for your truck would be the part # DM8552009-71 which you can look at to get an idea and compare to what you have. • 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch and Installation Kit Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 Short Bed
There are 2 short beds for the 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500; a 5-1/2 foot bed and a 6-1/2 foot bed. If your truck has the 6-1/2 foot bed than the regular slider hitch can work. But if you have a 5-1/2 foot bed the regular slider hitch will not offer enough travel to safely make 90 degree turns. For the 5-1/2 foot bed I have an excellent solution if the gross trailer weight is less than 13,000 pounds. You can use the Demco HiJacker, # DM8550040, with installation kit # DM8552009-71, for a...
