Where to install rails in truck bed of 1996 Dodge Ram short bed? Have a 1996 Nash 21 ft trailer.

Hello Avis. When installing fifth wheel rails in the bed of a 1996 Ram short bed, the rails will be installed so that the fifth wheel hitch head is centered over the rear axle. It is recommended that the King pin be centered over the rear axle, or it can be up to 3" ahead towards the cab of the truck. I have included a screenshot from the instructions to illustrate this.

I have also included links below with the instructions for the B&W Rail Kit # BWRVR3200 and the Demco Rail Kit # DM8552009-71 which are both for the 1996 Ram short bed. These instructions will go over the installation process in more detail. Keep in mind that both of these kits will require drilling into the frame of your truck.
