Today we're going to be taking a look at the Stromberg Carlson Econo porch steps with a hand rail and landing. The park model trailer step is going to provide the stability of a stationary step with the handrail located on one side. The double step Econo porch comes fully assembled. To use it just unfold and attach the six braces and the handrail with the included hardware. The braces, we're going to have four in the front and two in the back. Those are really going to help increase overall strength and stability.
The handrail gives you support on the side of your choice. It can be used on either side of the steps. We have a really nice sized landing over here at the top. Each step, and the landing, is going to provide great traction and grip with a large area of grip tape. The grip tape is also going to help remove items from your shoes before tracking into your RV. On the front edge of the grip tape, here on the steps, is going to be a thin yellow line.
What that does is it indicates the top of, and the beginning of, a new step. The bright yellow really catches the eye, so it's easy to see. Even in low-light conditions. That's designed to help increase overall safety. The unit's made from a steel construction. It's going to have a powder-coated finish on it, so it's going to do a great job at resisting rusting corrosion.
It's going to last a long time and it's going to look good for a long time. The unit's got a feature of weight capacity, 350 pounds. It's made right here in the USA. Now the step is able to fold for storage. The folded position is going to be the same position that it ships in.
If you we're to get on of these, you might want to pay attention to how it's collapsed in the box, because that would be the folded or stowed position. All you have to do is remove the hardware and handrail, and with a little bit of effort the step will collapse into a folded position. It does allow for a little bit more of a compact storage option. A few measurements to go over with you real quick. Starting over here with the landing. It's going to be this large upper piece. 27 inches wide with overall depth 16 inches. The steps are going to measure the same 27 inches wide, but the depth is going to decrease a little bit. That's going to decrease to nine inches. What I meant by the same is this one and the bottom one, or the first step is going to measure the same. The landing's the only platform on the unit that's a little bit larger. Really nice design. When it comes to the overall step height, measuring from the ground to the top of that platform, we're looking at about 20 and half inches. Right there around the 21 inch mark. It's going to work well for doors that are 21 inches off the ground. Overall height to the top of the handrail right here, that's going to measure about 54 and three quarters of an inch at the tallest point. When it comes to the drop and rise from the platform to the step, we're looking at about seven inches. From one step to the other we're looking at about seven inches. From the first step to the ground it's going to be about six and three eighths or six and half inches right in that area. When it comes to measuring front to back, that's going to measure about 33 and five eighths of an inch. That's going to do it for today's look at the Stromberg Carlson Econo porch step with the included handrail.

Love these stairs!! My daughter and I own a women's mobile boutique and had a hard time finding stairs that had a handrail. These are perfect. The top stair meets the back bumper just right and they are so stable. I had hip surgery a year ago and I'm very comfortable going in and out of the truck now. A bit tough opening them up but we got the job done. The screws were taped to the unit and we even had a couple extras. Great communication from George at e-trailer for receiving and shipping the order. Even sent a follow up e-mail. I would highly recommend these stairs and this company!!! 187503
This product is very high quality and rugged. It is heavy, but that makes for a sturdy stair. The only complaint, and I read others had this issue as well, was packaging. All the product was in the box but the box was somewhat tore up. I am very pleased and would definitely purchase items from eTrailer again, without hesitation! 202246

Well made, good value. Steps had non-slip treads to prevent falls and light stripes to improve visibility under poor lighting, both of which are great features. It feels solid, but I will probably add a diagonal brace on each side using existing holes to increase rigidity. There are 6 diagonal braces that give good sideways rigidity, but no diagonal braces from front to back. It is shipped partially assembled. Assembly involved opening up the structure and installing 6 screws on the braces and 2 screws on the hand rail. Very easy to set up. I recommend using locktite or similar "adhesive lock washer" on the screws before tightening to keep them from working loose. The only reason I didn't give it an excellent is that it isn't meant for heavy-traffic commercial areas, just for normal applications in home and shops. My applications is between two levels in my garage where it is more than adequate. 205832

Fantastic! The order came on time, the stairs are perfect; your staff could not have been more helpful and courteous. The stairs are very durable, easy to put together and attractive. The only small problem was that the hardware bag had broken open. Might use a more durable bag. Thank you for your product and service. 112143

Received the steps super fast. We are very pleased with them. Tried them out today and they made entering and exiting our motor home very easy. I am disabled and I felt safe using these steps. We are very glad we found and purchased these steps. Price was much better than other places. 153512

Great delivery time. I was hesitant to purchase because of the price but went with the reviews of the product. Sure glad we did! This product is very surprisingly sturdy for being the lowest price we found online! 228282
This product is built well, and is much safer than the fold down steps on my 5th wheel. I use it to go in and out of the 5th wheel while camping and at home. Tommy 88260
The steps themselves are nice but I had one heck of a time setting them up. The pivot points were too tight. I wasn't able to unfold the steps by myself, even after hitting the pivot points with WD-40. I had to get a neighbor to help me unfold them. I had a hard time aligning the holes for the hardware for the braces. All the hardware was in the box but they were scattered because the bag they were in was ripped open. The worst part was the product picture on the website clearly shows anti-skid material on the steps. The steps I received did NOT have any on them; I had to shell out another $42 for anti-skid material to put on the steps. 152732
I used the steps for the first time this past week on a camping trip to an area lake. It served its purpose very well by improving the stability for entrance steps to my motorhome. As aging RVers the increased entrance room and stability makes for a much safer access to the coach. A question to be answered with future use is whether one screw on each leg of the hand rail will be sufficient. I suppose, if it proves to not be strong enough, I can drill holes to add another screw in each leg for stronger support. I am sure your company tested it and believe one screw is enough. I am very impressed with the sturdiness and ease to erect. 75780

My purchasing experience with etrailer.com was exceptional. I highly recommend etrailer.com and have included pictures of my solution to having a balance problem. Thank you etrailer.com! 228136
Hard to give it an excellent rating due to the fact that some of the nuts were missing. I presume this is due to the fact that they come in a very flimsy plastic bag that rips. Couple that with the box getting torqued by the heavy weight and it is no surprise that tiny parts fell out. Aside from that, the steps are very solid. Fairly simple to assemble too. etrailer had the best price BY FAR and are good to deal with. I really ;like these stairs and got them for my grandmother. I feel much better about her going in and out of the camper now. 56925

I bought this not for an RV, but as an alternative set of stairs to use off of my front stoop while a portion of the front walkway of my house is being repaired. The stairs were easy to unfold/assemble and fit perfectly against my front stoop, which is two feet high from the ground. My 74-year-old mother, with a bad knee and all, had no trouble negotiating these steps. They're sturdy, the railing was just right and the non-slip step surface is excellent. Very happy to have found this product to utilize for this purpose! 227017

We love the stairs, but it showed up with only 1 bolt and 3 nuts in the box! We had to make a special trip to the hardware store before we could use it. the tracking was confusing to use. It showed up a day later than planned due to unspecified problem with the shipper. Nyloc nuts would be the nuts of choice for this product, since using the stairs would tend to allow regular nuts to eventually come undone. Stephen was very helpful on the phone when I made a mistake with my online order. Thanks Stephen! 123885

over all I was satisfied with your product,it was built well, and when it was fully assembled it was quite solid to walk on. I like the mobility and convenience of when your done with it you can easily fold it up and transport it to your next destination. I,m using it with a c-class rv.since my wife is partially disabled (broken hip), she finds the porch trailer step a great asset. Thanks for doing a great job with this product.sincerely jim b. 131681
We are retirement age and have small dogs we carry in and out of our trailer. It was pretty scary going up and down the trailer steps with a dog. These steps are AWESOME! We slide them in the back of the truck and it dosen't take much to set them up. We won't leave home without them. They are not too heavy but very stable. They are well made and at a good price. Heck, even without the dogs I wouldn't leave home without them! 246481
Well built sturdy item. Nice and wide. I will use the steps for tourists to enter my utility box trailer (not a camper trailer) to view an exhibit after I back out my WWII Jeep. I had to add a folding extension to the top step so it would work ...just a bit too high. If the steps are intended to be folded I would suggest wing nuts and wing bolts for easy disconnect of the bracing without the need for tools. 129112

Very well made product. Levelers on the corners would be an improvement when used on uneven ground. Also, two bolts rather than one at base of each rail post would make the rail more solid. Would also recommend replacing the provided nuts with wing nuts to speed the assembly process. Otherwise I'm impressed with the overall quality of the product. 207464
This product was delivered very quickly. It takes a few seconds to figure out how it unfolds but if seems very sturdy. The steps should work out perfectly for our truck camper. The steps that we connect to the hitch are not directly under the camper door so it makes exiting the camper in the middle of the night dangerous. So far, I am very pleased. 24019
Hello: This product arrived yesterday in a snowstorm, so we did take a look to see if any damage was sustained in transit. Everything seems ok. We will be leaving it in the box for about a month & will be using it for access to our trailer/guest house. Looking forward to giving it a try!! Sorry, no photos at this time. 242995

I received the order in good shape. Some of the screws were missing but it was not a big deal. I unfolded the steps and placed them up against the RV....perfect fit! These steps are just what I needed and I am very pleased. I definitely recommend this company to everyone, and I will be ordering from them in the future. 118446
Very heavy steel, good paint job,fit and finish first rate. Wife can now get in and out of camper without fear of hurting self because she has a real step to walk on. Unless your a kid these steps are needed to safety get in and out of the trailer. I weigh 270 pounds and the steps feel solid. 230030

As other ratings have said pakaging is weak and hardware is rolling around and missing a nut. Make sure you measure your door height with your trailer level. I must have measured mine with the nose lower, I really could of used the taller step once I put the step next to the trailer level. 114602

The steps were better than expected. Assembled very easy, all the parts were there and the holes lined up. Only complaint was the paint on the handrail had a spot rubber off, probably during shipment. No big deal, just hit it with a spray can. All in all a good product! 233277

Handrail had one hole that was not drilled all the way through. One of the braces had to be re-drilled. Cost me $6 to buy screws and nuts because box was torn and bag inside was torn and didn't have sufficient hardware. Delivery was fast. 133820

Just received the econo steps I ordered. I couldn't have been more pleased. Not only are the steps the perfect solution for my aging parents, but the communication and service from etrailer was outstanding. Not to mention the price! 49947

The product is really great quality, and was easy to put together. It is about 5" too tall for what I needed, so had to dig a trench. Am now looking for a similar style only a bit shorter. Would highly recommend this one though. 133778
These steps have been great for me and my wife. We both have back problems. It's given us comfort in knowing we can enjoy camping and not be afraid of falling or discomfort from going up and down the stairs on our camper. 321373

Holding up very well and very sturdy. Our old stairs were rickety and caused an injury. Since having these, no issues have been had and everybody feels comfortable with how sturdy they are. Easily portable and to set up. 281941
Everything thing was good except it look like someone just dumped the nuts and bolts in the box and had a hole in box so was worried for a bit but had everything I needed ..got it put together in 20 min sturdy product 180524
So far looks like the answer to our problem. For the price, it's very sturdy and will fold up for transport. A big plus was eTrailer. They had it in stock and I had within 3 business days. Hats off to them. 213375
by: Linda B04/21/2014
Very well built product and will serve the purpose well. I was a little disappointed that it didn't fold away easily when not in use, without unscrewing the braces. Its heavy and sturdy and good quality 126214
by: Sy Harper07/11/2013
The only thing that would make the better would to be add some type of build in wheels. This would make them easier to move around. They will make it easier getting in and out of the trailer also safer. 88941

We should have bought this 10 years ago when we bought our house. It is outside our patio door and now my grandkids can exit safely. Very sturdy and well made. I thoroughly recommend this product. 147176

Assembly was great, it's sturdy and it is the perfect size to use with our travel trailer. I no longer have a hard time getting in and out of the trailer while we are camping. 294628
I really like the large top step and that we could move handrail to other side. We are going to let it assembled and use for the camper and truck. Our dog will use also. 218821
These steps are great! They are the perfect hight for our motorhome. So easy to put together and just as simple to dismantle and fold for ease in storing and moving. 252952
Easy to put together. Sturdy and safe. I feel more secure with these steps than the ones attached to the camper. I would recommend these steps to anyone with an RV. 196712
The paint was rubbed off a little from shipping but, they work great. The quailty was very good too. Will touch up the paint that was missing. 84280
