Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area. The exact location of the wiring harness will vary depending on your make and model.

Once installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector will be stowed in your rear cargo area.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

Tail Light Converter

A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

I have ordered two hitches and two wiring harnesses from etrailer. Amidst other good (and not so good) online retailers, etrailer stands out as one of the very best: informative videos, good products, fast service, and very knowledgeable support staff. I called with a technical question before a purchase and received exactly the information I needed. Excellent company.

Perfect prewired connection for my make, model and year car. Thank your for having the correct one that serves my needs very well.

I’m in shock, how well this connection for my utility trailer to my 2006 Honda Pilot was so easy to install, matching Honda’s “plug and play” original equipment. It has performed great in only taking minutes to hookup test all light functions without a failure or need for trouble shooting connections.

Easy install on my Honda CRV. Plug and play

by:
2006 HondaCR-V

Everything worked great and the instructions were good. only problem is that I know there is a way to run the wires from the inside where they connect to the outside rather then through the door and the instructions didn't cover that.

by:

It works fine, but it is not as pictured. The wires are not encased in the gray sleeve like in the picture of the product. Could have saved a few bucks had I known that because that's the reason I chose this harness.

Install was pretty straightforward, especially thanks to the video.

Perfect fit. Love Etrailer!

exactly as described and VERY goos customer service.

100 percent compatible. installation over in a few minutes. Performed correctly.

2000 Honda Accord

2000 Honda Accord Ex V6Perfect. This car has a tow plug in the trunk behind the plastic covering of the taillights just waiting for this harness to connect to it. I sent it thru a rubber grommet next to the base of the wheel well to connect to the trailer and it was that easy.

May I assume that my 2000 Honda Accord LX V6 sedan will have the same hook up? If so, In a few weeks, I will order a hitch and wiring. Thank you.

Patrick B.

Both the EX and LX models should have this same hook up.

Installed in 3 minutes and works great. Thanks for a great product at a great price.

2000 HondaCR-V

A very easy install -- pop the LH rear speaker out, take out some of the floor trim, and snake this through. TONS of wiring to run through the tailgate and towards your receiver hitch. Almost wish I'd permanently installed the harness, but oh well.

2004 Honda Pilot

I purchased a Plug and tow wiring harness for my Honda Pilot. Being the first time I purchased from Etrailer I was a little apprehensive, but the item was shipped to me the same day I placed the order. It arrived quickly and was the exact part I needed.
I watched the video on how to install it and it was very clear and concise. It was easy to install and only took a few minutes. I would highly recommend this product.
I also recommend doing business with Etrailer they did everything they said they would and followed up to make sure I was happy with my purchase.
All in all a great experience.

2004 Honda Pilot

The wiring kit was easy to install, and the videos on the website showing how to install are very helpful (I was installing on a 2004 Honda Pilot, which is used as an example in one of the videos, so worked out great.)

I also bought a "tester" for an additional $3 or so, which I highly recommend. Also very easy to use and gave confidence that wiring worked before I pick up a rental trailer.

Was my first time using etrailer.com - purchased product was good, website was good, customer service was good, and shipping was as promised. All in all, a very positive experience.

by:

I wanted to leave you a review but cannot find a good venue to do so. I just ordered a hitch, wiring harness and 4-pole wiring harness tester from your website. I ordered from you because I think your video tutorials are amazing. I consider myself very handy and above average when it comes to mechanical projects, but I love a good tutorial and yours are top notch. I hope the products I ordered are as good as your videos.

Honda

One of the best customer care departments I've ever used. Easy installation just like the video. Can be done in a few minutes!!! Honda charges $100 for the Honda harness and their hitch is $400. I did a trans cooler, hitch and harness all for under 200 and 4 hour total install time!!

by:
2005 Acura MDX

The wiring harness fro the 2005 Acura MDX fit well and functioned as expected. For the cost of these pre-made harnesses, I cannot build my own as I used to do. I've fitted these to the last 3 vehicles I owned and every one has been excellent.

by:
2006 HondaCR-V

I like the drawtite hutch over the curt BUT reconnecting the onboard muffler mount was awful!!! The drawtite bracket is SOOOO substantial it interferes with the reassembly. We need a video of that install. Still it’s a great product and the harness went on and works perfectly. All around the service and products offered are excellent.

by:

Great product, excellent customer service. YouTube videos are awesome. I was able to install my trailer hitch and light plug using the videos.

by:

Great product! Plug and Play and all the trailer lights worked, which is what I needed. I ordered on Monday and had the wire kit installed by Thursday evening. The instructions were clear, and accurate.

by:
2004 Honda Pilot

I purchased this harness as a plug and play solution for my 2004 Honda Pilot. I watched the installation video, headed out to my vehicle, and 3 minutes later had working trailer lights. Simple, Simple, Simple.

by:
2005 HondaCR-V

After viewing your website and installation videos, I placed my order with confidence. Your level of customer service with shipment tracking e-mails was great. The hitch was received and installed with no issues. You are definitely my trailer equipment source going forward. Thanks.

Ordered for a 2006 Honda CRV. Couldn't have been simpler - just plug into existing wiring and ready to go. Have used for a year now with no issues.

by:
2003 Honda Pilot

The product was shipped to me in a timely fashion, and it was easier to install than I expected. I have a 2003 Honda Pilot, and it was just as described in the video. I haven't tried it out with the trailer yet, but I don't foresee any problems arising. Definitely impressed with the courteous and professional service of etrailer.com, all in all.

by:

The product was shipped immediately and installation was exactly as decribed, plug and play. A good deal all around, great transaction, thank you etrailer.com!

  • Installing a Trailer Wiring Harness on a 1995 Honda Del Sol
I wasn't able to look up your order number using the supplied email address but the correct wiring harness for your 1995 Honda Del Sol is part # 118336 for Tekonsha or part # 43105 for Hopkins. I called Tekonsha and Hopkins to confirm this. Both of these harnesses are a direct plug and play install that will not require you to cut or splice any wires. Most of the time, it is just simply a case of not being able to find the connector. Hopkins suggested that you look in the back cargo area...

  • Do I Need Diodes to Prevent Feedback from RV When Flat Towing
Technically no, you should not need diodes, though it will depend on the wiring harness you are using. Many wiring harnesses have built-in diodes. If you are using a TrailerMate wiring harness you may need to install additional diodes. We have had trouble with their built-in diodes giving out. If you are using a Bulb and Socket Set for Tail Light Wiring Kits like # RM-155-2, or a magnetic tow lights like # TL21RK, you won't have to worry about diodes because there won't be any feedback...

I do have a solution that will work for your 2005 Honda Element but unfortunately neither the Hopkins # 43105 or their # HM40155 are confirmed fits for your vehicle. Instead you will need to use a universal option like the Wiring Harness Kit # C59496. This comes with quick splice connectors that allow you to tap into the light functions on your Element. It also includes the wiring needed to run to your battery so that your trailer lights aren't pulling from your vehicle lighting circuits.

Wiring harnesses are not included with Curt hitches. Hitches include the hardware needed to mount the hitch to the vehicle. Some Hidden Hitch models will included a draw bar and pin and clip. There are a handful of Valley hitches that have integrated wiring. For your 2005 Honda Pilot, you would use either part # 118336 or part # 33105 for a trailer wiring harness.

Yes the mounting box you have selected will work with the hitch and wiring kit you have selected. You will also need a wiring harness, 118336 or 43105, if you are not set up with a 4 pole flat connection already. In addition you will need a ball mount, pin & clip and the appropriate sized hitch ball to complete the setup if you do not already have these items. I have provided links below for your convenience.
